Delivery to Pensacola Christer School |
This past Thursday, I pulled a delivery run to those fun-lovin' folks at
Pensacola Christer School's maintenance garage. Man, what a weird place.
A sort of Stepford Garage, where everything looks like it would in a
normal garage, but stuff's just _wrong_.
Every damn mechanic--clean-shaven, clean-cut. They looked human enough,
but they just didn't "scan" right. Coming from a social misfit like me,
there's a moral in that.
Tool boxes--not a single pinup calendar in sight. This is almost unheard
of. A toolbox isn't complete without a Spandex-and-lip-gloss-clad chick
draped decoratively across a calendar. It would have been REALLY creepy
to find jeeebus pinups--the ones with the eyes that follow you around.
Music--none. They've got the school's preaching station blaring. No rock,
no country, just 24-7 jeeeeebus and praze-the-lawd.
Creeeeeepy.

I think the overalls are teflon coated so dirt and grease just won't
stick .... rather like their minds - teflon coated so reality/ideas
