Dentyne Fire Commercial Upsets Religious Prudes |
Anybody else foresee the following commercial being attacked by the
religious prudes/nutters out there?
http://www.elroysemporium.com/videos/dentynefire.wmv
For those who can't see the above video, it's a commercial about a
young high-school girl humping her wrestler boyfriend after she eats a
piece of hot cinnamon gum made by Dentyne. Watching her daughter
attack her wrestler boyfriend causes the mother to grab a piece of
the gum, and she soon starts humping her husband on the couch
next to her daughter and boyfriend...
This was on regular public TV when I recorded it, and I wonder how
long it'll be running before some of the religious fanatics out there
claim that it's pornography! :)
It doesn't bother me a bit, and I thought it was a cute commercial,
but I'd be willing to bet that some people find it offensive.

I find it offensive. People having sex with their clothes on is very nasty.

The argument that everything had a Creator because it's too complicated, is
about as reasonable as saying that it couldn't have been created since it's
too complicated.
It's about like saying that a super flea created a dog. Then
the good fleas go to a great dog in the sky, while the bad unbelieving fleas
are scratched off into a super rug to be forever hungry. If you think dogs
weren't created by a Great Flea then you are an afleaist.

Nevermind this post. I should've Googled around a bit before I posted
it. It turns out that plenty of Christians are foaming at the mouth
over the commercial...

No religious objection, of course, but both Dentyne commercials (I
think the one in the taxicab with the severed head is theirs too, but
I may be mistaken) are right on the line of being "inappropriate for
daytime", IMO. As for the "humor", they were way too juvenile, but
that's their target audience naturally, which is precisely why the
content is questionable.

The object, of course, is not so much to suggest that Dentyne acts as an
aphrodisiac since most (but not all) people are smart enough to know the
difference. But the aim is to further break down any restraints in
buying the merchandise. "Obey your thirst!" Sprite urges us. Give in to
your desires for instant gratification and don't deny yourself anything
.. That's why it's become so important to indoctrinate the public with
the "obey your desires" philosophy. It's really great for the economy.
Sex sells, and when it does, it becomes a form of prostitution which
degrades and cheapens human sexuality. Repubs know quite well how to
sell us a bill of "goods", as they managed to do in the recent election.

Sex sells
Just like religion sells.

Very nicely stated.
