Object: DO ANY GODS EXIST?
There are thousands of God beliefs and tales. Which, if any, is the real
God?
What objective evidence as to which is the real God? If there is a real God
why does he not the
tell us directly that he is the real God and all the rest are fakes?
Why doesn't God permit any of our dead friends or loved ones to tell us
directly about the
grandeur of heaven and the pain of hell?
If God exists, why does he need interpreters ( preachers ) to speak for him?
In fact, why doesn't God have his own Web site ( or communication direct
from heaven ) to answer our questions?
Why does only a small fraction of mankind claim to hear God speak and then
from different Gods? Are these claims based on fantasies from mentally
deranged people? There is NO OBJECTIVE EVIDENCE that anyone has talked with
God or any of the billions of deceased mortals.
Why would an all powerful God permit different scriptures, tomes, texts and
religious beliefs, replete with differences and contradictions, to fuel the
ravings of numerous sects, branches, churches and rites?
There are many different religions and literally thousands of God beliefs.
There are major religions such as Christian, Judaism, Buddhists, Sikhs,
Hindus, Muslims, Shintoists, Confusions, Christian Scientists, Mormons,
Protestants, Catholics, Evangelicists, Baptists etc. Why doesn't he clearly
declare which is the real God and correct belief system and that all the
others are fakes?
It would appear that ALL the Gods are mythical creations of man and do not
actually exist.
Does anyone have objective evidence or proof that their God is real and
actually exists? The Bibles and similar documents of other religions are not
objective evidence or proof, they are merely the unsubstantiated opinions
( and contradictory opinions ) and tales of other mortals.
The evidence is rather substantial that god did not create man, but quite
the opposite, that man created godS.

No dead friends or relatives telling us directly (without the need of

Those who have been dead and brought back to life (not "NDE"

IOW, the claim that requires evidence is the one that there *IS* a
heaven and a hell. Have any?

There are thousands of God beliefs and tales. Which, if any, is the real
God?

The real God is the God one finds peace and solace in. If a person's belief
in the divine compells them to be a better person, to achieve a higher state
of morality, or to become accustomed to concerns for others than him or
herself, that is the person's truth, the person's god. In all of my
studies, I have found one essential fact: most religions (outside of names
and traditions) are essentially similar in practice. I feel the Divine is
one force, but revealing itself to many different people in many different
ways. I cannot support any evidence promoting Christianity above Hinduism,
but I know if I abandon Christ, or the figure of Christ in my heart, I
abandon a part of myself. In the same way, if a Buddhist abandons his quest
for higher enlightenment for another path, he loses a part of himself. The
Divine is a force so intertwined in ones "heart" (thought processes
governing instinct and emotion) that if one abandons the concept of the
divine that they have come to love, that person may abandon a part of
himself or herself, making one incomplete. That void that is missing, that
emptiness that one has grown accustom to may in fact be "God" (or a
manifestation of God in ones own mind). You may see this as irrational.
What evidence have I to prove the existence of the Divine? All I can tell
you for now is that I do, in fact, need to believe in God. If I do not, or
if I abandon the Divine force that has become a part of me, I am incomplete
and feel somewhat lost. Everyone has to have something to live for, whether
it is for family, pursuit of hapiness, hurting others, financial success, or
God. I choose God and if I abandon that now, I abandon a part of myself.
That is the Divine and as long as I continue to believe in Him, He will
exist... if solely for me, he will exist. That is what I meant when I
advised you to ask yourself if God exists. If the Divine doesn't exist for
you, nothing will convince you otherwise. If, however, the Divine exists,
little will convince you that it doesn't.

What objective evidence as to which is the real God? If there is a real
God
why does he not the
tell us directly that he is the real God and all the rest are fakes?

For those who hold a belief in the Divine, there is evidence to His
presence, supported by intuition, "gut instinct", emotions unfamiliar to
ones own personality, and a strong emptiness when one isn't right with the
spiritual life they have established. If God is, indeed, real... he may
have manifested himself in many different ways to show us His existence: a
beautiful sunrise, a childs smile, a voice in a dream, a voice on the wind.
The fact of the matter is that the figure of God throughout history has been
ambiguously secretive. In many religions, gods didn't want to be worshipped
because people saw. Instead, gods wanted to be worshipped because people
didn't see and still believed. In the Synoptic gospels, Christ was
particularly elusive. In Exodus, God appeared only to Moses and allowed
miracles to be worked through Moses. In Hindu tradition, it was Krishna who
appeared to his people in the form of a bee (or beetle). In Judaism, God
manifested His voice through prophets. In Islam, Allah manifested through
Mohammed. There could be many reasons for this paradox. Maybe God's voice
is so confusing that only certain people can understand. Maybe God doesn't
want the entire world to worship Him solely out of sight. For example, I
am adopted and do not know my biological mother or father. I know they
exist, and I know I can attribute certain characteristics I have to them.
Without a doubt, I have a strong desire to meet them and a strong love for
them that gave me life. In my mind, God the Father is my creator. I have
never seen Him (only a certain few have). I have never touched Him or heard
His voice from heaven. Despite all of this, I know that He is real and I
have a strong desire to be with Him. I ask Him questions and know that He
does answer me, if ever so slightly. In order to hear those answers, I have
to be open to them. Might they be fabrications of my imagination? Most
definately. Most of my prayers are probably answered by my own mind. Are
they fake prayers? No, they are prayed in complete sincerity. Why, then, do
I think they are from God? This is the key quesiton. I know they are from
God because without faith in God, I would never be asking these questions.
Without a faith in God, the answers would lie dorment in my mind. I hope
this makes sense...

Why doesn't God permit any of our dead friends or loved ones to tell us
directly about the
grandeur of heaven and the pain of hell?

This is, indeed, another paradox. Many have claimed to have witnessed or
heard a message from their loved ones who were passed on. When I think
about my loved ones who have died and wonder how they are doing, a part of
my heart tells me that they are well and alive. My intuition tells me that
they are happy. When I wonder whether or not they are in the afterlife, I
have never feared that they are lost to oblivion. Might this be a
fabrication of my mind? Yes, there's always that chance. Do I think it is a
fabrication? No. Through meditation and prayer, I am compelled to believe
without ANY rational proof that heaven exists. I don't see why you have
such a problem with that...

If God exists, why does he need interpreters ( preachers ) to speak for
him?
In fact, why doesn't God have his own Web site ( or communication direct
from heaven ) to answer our questions?

His own website.. funny :p http://www.godiswithyou.com
Sometimes prayer to God seems someone one-sided. You are doing all the
talking and He is such a great listener. Might it be an imaginary friend of
some form? Yes. Might we be childish because of our desire to pray? I hope
so. It is our path to strive to achieve the innocence of a child. Someone
earlier wrote that God only exists in the mind of a child. If I could live
my life with the heart of a child and the maturity of an adult, that would
be great. People always call me childish, unaware of that which goes on
around me... but despite all of this many more think me deeply mature and
spiritual and wonder how I have maintained innocence despite all of this.
Imagination may be the cause of it all. I do not think so, however, and I
have faith and hope that there is more to this universe than just the
physical.

Why does only a small fraction of mankind claim to hear God speak and then
from different Gods? Are these claims based on fantasies from mentally
deranged people? There is NO OBJECTIVE EVIDENCE that anyone has talked
with
God or any of the billions of deceased mortals.

This arises from ones strong desire to contact the Divine. In this, they
"hear" messages from God, or have prophecies. We are told to believe that a
prophet should be listened to until the prophet is wrong. The people
standing out on street corners waving bibles in the air are definately
over-zealous... and can be somewhat dangerous. Many of them might be
"mentally deranged". I myself have only had a few experiences where I felt
the true presence of God. One was in a dream unlike any dream I have had
before. I call it a vision, because its message was true: I must turn to my
brothers and sisters who are confused in their faith and help them find the
tranquility they are missing. Might it have been just a dream? Maybe. I
think it was something more, however. Then there was the experience I had
during Eucharistic Adoration, where I saw with my eyes and heard with my
ears a message. From the eucharist, a wave of sound pulsed and I heard
"Wait and see..." I do not consider myself mentally deranged. Maybe I was
too tired... maybe the insence in the air and the lighting played a trick on
my exhausted mind. Maybe, however, just maybe... there was a real God and
he spoke to me those words of comfort and filled my body with warmth and
tranquility (that feeling you get when something very good happens, that
warmth that starts from your heart and spreads throughout your entire
body... I like to say it is God lifting me up spiritually). Might I be
wrong? Of course... I'd be a fool to admit otherwise. Do I think I am
mistaken? No. I feel that my experience was sincere without any objective
or rational proof.

Why would an all powerful God permit different scriptures, tomes, texts
and
religious beliefs, replete with differences and contradictions, to fuel
the
ravings of numerous sects, branches, churches and rites?

Maybe God didn't, but man did. It is a belief in my faith that God doesn't
interefere with free will. Maybe millions have been led astray because of
their own free will. Maybe God chose to reveal himself to the world in
hundreds of different ways. Who knows the true answer to those questions?
Without any rational evidence, however, I know that if I abandon my faith I
will abandon a part of who I am. I hope you aren't asking me to do that.
If you are, I would like to inquire as to why?

There are many different religions and literally thousands of God beliefs.
There are major religions such as Christian, Judaism, Buddhists, Sikhs,
Hindus, Muslims, Shintoists, Confusions, Christian Scientists, Mormons,
Protestants, Catholics, Evangelicists, Baptists etc. Why doesn't he
clearly
declare which is the real God and correct belief system and that all the
others are fakes?

Maybe none of them are real. Maybe they are all real. There is this idea
floating around of "godism"... the belief in the Divine in any shape or form
implies the existence of that Divine. There is a philisophical idea that
the only thing one can be sure about is the fact that he or she exists. The
only thing, therefore, I can be sure of is that I exist. In the same way,
the only true way I can be sure that the Divine exists, that God exists, is
to look within myself and examine my experiences. Does God exist to me?
Yes... no one else can tell me otherwise. Does God exist to you? No... no
one else can tell you otherwise. Without any objective proof, I chose to
believe in God. My experiences are proof for me, though many might call
that irrational.

It would appear that ALL the Gods are mythical creations of man and do not
actually exist.

It would appear that all aspects of the Divine exist in the mind of the
believers. Whether they actually exist or not is something one cannot prove
or disprove.

Does anyone have objective evidence or proof that their God is real and
actually exists? The Bibles and similar documents of other religions are
not
objective evidence or proof, they are merely the unsubstantiated opinions
( and contradictory opinions ) and tales of other mortals.

What is this objective evidence? What is your definition of "objective".
Objective implies a purpose, evidence which exists for the purpose of
proving the truth of God.
Sometimes not all evidence exists in mathematical form, or from sight and
sound and touch and smell and hearing. In many fields evidence exists from
experience. Psychology, for example. There are many experients done in the
field of psychology and theories arise and are proven through the
experiences of the test-subjects.
My concern is that what may be objective for me isn't objective for you. My
intuition tells me that God is real. My experiences dictate that if I
abandon that Divine force which I have come to know as real, I will abandon
a part of who I am. I have tried to live life without a belief in God... I
was utterly miserable and had no purpose. Could that be a weakness? Most
definately. Could it be a tragic flaw, an achilles heel? Most assuredly. I
think, however, that it isn't. I cannot explain why completely, but I can
give you a taste of why if you were open to the meditations I suggested. I
can't offer any proof you would deem rational. I cannot open a doorway and
show you where God is. I can, however, give you a taste of what God means
to me. I can help you experience what I go through and what I experience in
my meditations and why I think it is credible proof for the existence of
spirit, for the existence of God.

The evidence is rather substantial that god did not create man, but quite
the opposite, that man created godS.

Indeed, there is theoretical evidence that the aspect of the Divine was
created by man. I do not understand, however, why so many people spend so
much time trying to disprove the existence of God to those who believe in
God. I am sorry if you felt, earlier, that I was trying to "convert" you or
impose my beliefs on you. It wasn't my intention and I didn't realize I was
talking to a group of atheists in the former threads. I didn't even realize
until someone pointed it out that I was cross posting to alt.atheism. The
first message was in alt.religion and I responded in defense to my faith,
faith being attacked by shewhoblew and a few others. I was acting in
defense and sometimes I go overboard. My sincerest apologies for that. I
am interested in one thing, however; Why do many atheists post in Christian
rooms (or rooms of other religions) topics against the validity of the
existence of God? You do not believe in God... why, then, are you trying to
make me not believe in God? Does my belief in God bother you? (I am not
attacking you in any way in this series of questions... I am merely
interested).
With upmost respect and consideration,

What objective evidence as to which is the real God? If there is a real

Why doesn't God permit any of our dead friends or loved ones to tell us

If God exists, why does he need interpreters ( preachers ) to speak for
him?
In fact, why doesn't God have his own Web site ( or communication direct

Why does only a small fraction of mankind claim to hear God speak and then
from different Gods? Are these claims based on fantasies from mentally
deranged people? There is NO OBJECTIVE EVIDENCE that anyone has talked
with
God or any of the billions of deceased mortals.

Why would an all powerful God permit different scriptures, tomes, texts
and
religious beliefs, replete with differences and contradictions, to fuel
the
ravings of numerous sects, branches, churches and rites?

There are many different religions and literally thousands of God beliefs.
There are major religions such as Christian, Judaism, Buddhists, Sikhs,
Hindus, Muslims, Shintoists, Confusions, Christian Scientists, Mormons,
Protestants, Catholics, Evangelicists, Baptists etc. Why doesn't he
clearly
declare which is the real God and correct belief system and that all the
others are fakes?

It would appear that ALL the Gods are mythical creations of man and do not
actually exist.

Does anyone have objective evidence or proof that their God is real and
actually exists? The Bibles and similar documents of other religions are
not
objective evidence or proof, they are merely the unsubstantiated opinions
( and contradictory opinions ) and tales of other mortals.

The evidence is rather substantial that god did not create man, but quite
the opposite, that man created godS.

Dear rj,
Do you think I've sod all to do up here? I'm surrounded by whining
fundamentalist pricks squabbling about the shortage of virgins, and I ain't
had one of them arrive up here for the past six months. It's gettin'
serious.
And another thing, there's always arguments between my followers from back
in King James time and recent arrivals, they seem to be from different
worlds. And those stone age assholes can only communicate in grunts and
nobody has a clue what they are talkin' about. Complainin I bet!
Oh., and that lottery ticket you lost. That was my ticket you *****, I
only let you win so I could knock you off with a fast car and then collect
the winnings, how do you think we balance the books up here?
Wonder how old Lucifer is getting on down below, must give i'm a call and
find out whether it was 'im who started that Tsunami. Caused me a lot of
hassle that did, folks keep asking me why 'I' did it.
Could do with some help from that lazy sod Jesus too, but as usual he's off
walking on water again, proper show off 'e is. Ah well "Back to the drawing
board"
Cheers,
God
P.S. If you know of any virgins could you.............Oh *****, never mind

'Through the Looking Glass' by Louis Carroll
is both a superior work and has a greater connection with reality than
the drivel in the Bible.
"It seems a shame," the Walrus said,
"To play them such a trick,
After we've brought them out so far,
And made them trot so quick!"
The Carpenter said nothing but
"The butter's spread too thick!"
"I weep for you," the Walrus said.
"I deeply sympathize."
With sobs and tears he sorted out
Those of the largest size.
Holding his pocket handkerchief
Before his streaming eyes.
"O Oysters," said the Carpenter.
"You've had a pleasant run!
Shall we be trotting home again?"
But answer came there none --
And that was scarcely odd, because
They'd eaten every one.'
