Does anyone remember "The Duke of Doubt" |
Back in 1979 Burger King tries to create a sort of Pantheon of Sorts in
answer to Ronald McDonalds McDonaldland Characters. Of Course, the
center of this grom was The Burger King Himself(although a masked
imposter of him has recently surfaced) who could do these various food
related miracles. Since McDonal had the foil of the Hamburglar, the ad
agency gave the Kings a foil...The Duke Of Doubt.
The Duke of Doubt, you see he doubts things...that's his shtick and is
made a fool of by The Burger King. Is that how theists see us? Foolish?
If so, just call me a Duke of Doubt. But don't mistake me for a fool. I
would only be one if I really ignored a miracle...I'm still waiting for
one...you can wake up with the King.

I'd stay away from the word Duke, it's been forever stained.

LOL! I had TOTALLY forgotten the "Duke f Doubt" until my husband, who's 5
years younger, bought him up. Even now, he'll sometimes say "I double doubt
it!" Oy vey ;)

I think I vaguely remember a couple of these, like the thing hanging on
the wall and the on picture of the Burger King standing on the ceiling.
I just wish the images were better quality.

Speaking strictly for myself, I say: No. :)

I remember that. The Burger King had some sort of ring which
he turned and some magic happened.
But we always need a Duke of Doubt to keep us honest.

See, I don't remember ANY of that stuff. But that was when I started
college and maybe they didn't show those ads in Florida?

Hardly. While the King is now afflicted with obesity, diabetes
and coronary artery disease, the Duke of Doubt kept away from
Burger King food and is planning to run his 15th New York City
Marathon.

The king also has some kind of strange skin disease that makes his skin
look like plastic, and for some reason his head has gotten extremely
large.
