Discovery of "Ribozymes" means that an RNA world could have been a

Nice article. They are getting down to specific sequences now. Actually
the 'RNA World' hypothesis has been around for some time:
http://www.panspermia.org/rnaworld.htm
Formation of the ribose part of the RNA backbone was considered to be a
problem, but nature my have found a 'workaround':
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2004/01/040109064945.htm
Others have suggested that others sugars, such as throse, could have
substituted for ribose or even that peptides might have served as the
backbone for the first nucleic acids (PNA).

Thanks again for posting that article.

I had heard of it before and heard some creationist dismissals of it.
But the references you provided were very informative. Just like the day
has come when many creationists can no longer deny "micro-evolution", the
day appears to be coming when they can no longer deny that even DNA has
evolved from simpler structures.

There is still much to learn about the origin of life. I described it
once as a huge jigsaw puzzle. We have many of the pieces. We have even
managed to put some of the pieces together, but we don't have the whole
picture as yet.
However, from what we have learned and what we know about the universe,
there is no reason to believe that gods or any other supernatural beings
were involved. In time it will be shown that life arose by natural
processes, just like everything else we know in the universe.

The evolution of DNA must be another example of micro-evolution. After
all, it is really small stuff. :-)

And after 4 billion (or 6,000) years, it's still just RSS - no
evolution. :)
Just the container (us) changed, but DNA is still DNA.
