Yes and no... Granted, a great many awful things can be attributed to
religious zealotry. But if you listen to the way many people criticize
atheists, claiming thea without a belief in whatever God(s) they tote
around. You would be raping, murdering and raping with no regard to
consequence, right and wrong, etc. Whether it is a failing of nature or
nurture, some folks need a wrathful sky daddy to keep them in line,
unfortunately.
Religions are crutches that don't reach all the way to the ground...
