AMSTERDAM, Netherlands - Dutch judges convicted nine men Friday of
belonging to a terrorist group, a landmark verdict that concludes promoting
a violent version of Islam can itself be an act of terrorism.
The case opens a new way for prosecutors to stop potential terrorists and
for the Netherlands to tackle the broader problem of the spread of
radicalism among Muslim youth.
Lawyers for the men said they will appeal.
Two men received 15- and 13-year prison terms for attempted murder after a
clash with police during their arrest. One received a five-year term for
possessing a loaded machine gun.

I can not other than clap my hands in approval with these new policies.
I think that they should have to be applying this procedure since
long ago.

Well, actually, there've always been requirements for immigration to
the Netherlands, among which requirements is a basic Dutch proficiency
exam which one must pass in order to get the resident alien card.
I applaud the Dutch government for taking a stand and saying, "You're
more than welcome to come live here, but this is our country and our
culture. Here's what you can expect, but don't say we didn't warn you.
And please refrain from bitching about it **AFTER** you move here."

I mean, Queen Beatrix on a Moped! That's basic civility.

That is a VERY recent development, grudgingly installed by a multi
cultural government. Under duress of popular pressure. Remember Prof.
Pim Fortuyn?

Correction: the government didn't want it at all. They had to do it,
or face massive civil unrest.

My therapist said I was better off blocking that particular memory.

The people are the government, in the end. <g>

Two of them face extradition to Morocco. Their [Dutch] citizenship has
been taken away. The two want to fight that, as they claim that
Morocco will treat them rather harsh - King hassan doesn't like fundy
mohammedans one little bit.
Ironic: two members of a extreme fundy mohammedan terrorist group,
fighting to convert a civilized country to barbarity don't want to be
extradited to a country which enforced their beloved laws....

Pity we cannot extradite to the Planet Mars yet, where they actually
belong.
