early morning observation |
I work in the city centre of the town I live near, every day as the bus
takes me round the City Hall in the middle I see this somewhat elderly
gentleman handing out religous leaflets (if I remember they're the fire and
brimstone kind). Now, he's there every morning and must get there some time
before 8 oclock. He doesn't always stand in the same place but he stays in
the city centre. He was standing near the dedicated alcho's the other
morning and one was very intently reading his phamphlet.
The point is, I don't think he's mentally well. Fair enough he doesn't
seem to be verbally preaching, but at the same time he doesnt really talk to
people, just tries to hand them one of those friggin leaflets. It strikes
me as similar to those who stand with sandwich boards declaring the end is
near. Something somewhere is misfiring (if only a little). Yet Ive seen
people clap his back, shake his hand and indicate he's doing a good job.
Presumably these are "good" christian people who think he's doing god's
work.
Makes me wonder - do they not consider it a little abnormal to be in (at
least) your 60's but get up at the crack of dawn to hand out little white
pages every single day as long as its about god?
At the end of the day he isn't hurting anyone and as long as he doesn't try
and to hand the propoganda to me I don't mind. I'm was just a little
surprised by his "support"
Kathryn
