Object: Earth to Bush: Don't!
Word is that Bush plans to visit the disaster area
left in the wake of his response to Hurricane
Katrina.
By all that is decent, DON'T DO IT!
Quite simply put, the area ravaged by Bush's indifference
just also happens to be an area of the nation with more
guns than people. And, at this moment a lot of those people
are quite angry.
Does the Whitehouse know this? Is the Secret Service
aware?
Damn right!
So right away you know for a fact that any Bush visit
to the region is going to be as spontaneous as one of
his invitation-only "town meetings," with the addition
of a very large expanse of open area "secured" for his
protection.
Bush's last photo-op in the region stopped all emergency
response in his vicinity -- as it was locked down for his
security -- and even withdrew at least one helicopter
from emergency services to serve as a stage prop. A
second visit wouldn't be any different, except that security
concerns might be greater than ever before, with the
passage of time much of the shock having given way to
anger.
And just think of all the resources it takes for an ordinary
Presidential visit, taking place under the best of
circumstances. Besides the security already mentioned,
there's also communication needs. Presidential authority
is often VITAL in response to any situation that might
crop up anywhere in the world. And that was true even
back in the days before we had ground forces fighting
a war in both Afghanistan & Iraq.
What of the costs? The money, the cash. Intricately staged
and choreographed photo-ops don't come cheap, and
Bush's well rehearsed "Spontaneous remarks" have as a
rule required a great many props.
Just think of how much it must cost the government, under
Bush, to do the necessary background checks on the victims
he invites to any surprise visit to random hurricane victims.
Let's face it, a Bush visit isn't worth the delay of even
one bottle of water arriving where it's needed. It's not.
And it would be awfully hard to claim any genuine
compassion behind Bush's visit -- as opposed to pure
politics -- considering the fact that the most needy of his
victims would have no way of even watching it on TV.
Seriously, dude, these people don't even have homes.
So as it is a purely political visit intended to make for
good television, just stay the ***** home. Or, heck, just
in Washington if you must. But don't bother going.
It's all risk & no gain.

No, it would still be President Rove. Different puppet, better grammar,
same situation.

If only gov blanco had signed the order before 4 days after the hurricane,
things would be so much better. But she's your type, biblo.

Maybe that's where all those workers went after the Prez left - they
were his secret service in disguise. Makes as much sense as anything,
I suppose.

HAHA!!!
He said it before you did. It seems you only read as far as you
quoted. There is a whole paragraph about Bush's first trip to NO. If
you're going to criticize, at least pay attention.

I only read as far as I have to. Bush, my President, is returning to Louisiana
for his 3rd trip.
But WHERE is the governor. It's been 14 days now since katrina, and she has yet
to address the people of Louisiana. That's bilbo's girl.

Truth. And why do you run and hide instead of discussing.
The governor has yet to address the people of Louisana about Katrina. You know
that. You're seen that. It would be better for you to at least defend your
beliefs instead of running away.
If C. Ray really couldn't find bus drivers to help the poor of NO get out,
defend it. But right now, the busses sat while NO flooded. And that's C. Ray's
fault.
If the governor didn't sign the paperwork until 4 days after the hurricane,
admit it. But right now, the levees failed while the governor fiddled with her
handlers. And that's kathleen's fault.
Don't blame the President when the 1st and 2nd lines of defense fiddled.
