Object: Easter
I know very few of us, if any, will be attending church services on this
particular day, but I was just wondering what my fellow godless heathens are
doing this particular day. The day before I'll be going to a SIL's house
for an Easter Egg hunt and to color eggs. On Easter, we'll just be having
my mom over for dinner. No big whoop. The witchling doesn't care for
candy, so she'll be getting a GameBoy game in her Easter basket instead.
So, what will ya'll be doing on Sunday? :)

I think so, though I have been wrong before ;)

I can never keep track of those pagan festivals...

Well, that pagan festival was actually on the 21st, so perhaps that's why
you were confused.
BTW, got two orders for my handpainted hand painted wooden skull & floral
purses. Huzzah! :)

Working around the house and on some music. At work today the boss said,
"oh, Easter Sunday coming up". Forgetting myself I chimed in, "Really?
When?" He knows I'm not Jewish, he must be wise by now. But due to some
"types" in the department, I'm still in the closet there.

Understandable. I sort of came out of the closet yesterday at work when I
inquired why we were ordering chinese food for lunch yesterday instead of
Friday as has been the tradition. So, I was told "Because it's Good
Friday". My response, "You can't eat chinese food on Good Friday?" I was
very quickly informed that you can't eat meat on Good Friday (the Catholics
can't, anyway). I was like "Whoopsie! Oh well, I'm a godless heathen, so
what the heck do I know". So, they know, but it doesn't seem to bother
anyone.

So, they know, but it doesn't seem to bother
anyone.

I thought the 'No Meat on Friday' thing was eliminated back in 1964,
or so, with Vatican II.

I thought the 'No Meat on Friday' thing was eliminated back in 1964,
or so, with Vatican II.

I think it was but then reinstated.
I seem to remember a convention of some sort at which the priests
argued for days over the earth shaking subject.
Ashley's new boyfriend is Catholic and doesn't seem to know why they
can't eat meat on Good Friday but says it's ok for the kids to do so.
I know God appreciates their withstanding the immense pressure of
having to do without it for twenty-four hours but that cows and pigs
and chickens probably appreciate it even more.
As far as I know none of them showed up at anybody's doors on Good
Friday to thank them so it's just a guess on my part.
It does make sense though.

I'm in Los Angeles. Hollywood, even, so you'd think it was safe. Still,
there are a few of "those". I haven't been grilled about religion, and
I've been there 21 years. There are at least half a dozen gay men in the
department, but we don't discuss sex either. I guess I should, if
someone ever poses the question. I got close twice, once a music editor
asked me how I could work on Easter Sunday, and I replied "my wife is
Jewish and I'm ....nothing." The guy just chuckled. Then my boss asked
me what kind of convention I was going to, but I ended up skirting it. I
know. Brawwwk-buk-buk-buckaw!
