Educated People Reject Religion (cont.) |
Religion and other forms of superstition have always found their strongest
following among the poor and uneducated. Every survey has found that the
higher the education level the less religious the individual will be,
regardless of the culture. The reason for this is many-faceted and obvious.
Today Christianity finds it hard to fill it's Priest slots in the U.S. and
Europe while most of the new growth comes from South America.

They know this too, which is exactly why they're trying
to inject themselves into public schools. Education is
the anti-virus.

Nice Myth but it doesn't appear to have much basis in reality. While it is
probably true that statistically the poor and uneducated tend to be more
religious; based on my experience, middle class America is both well educated
and predominately religious. Admittedly there is a significant proportion of
this religious population that is functionally secular in practicing their
religion. More significantly there is just as big a population of "fundies" and
they tend to be more politically active on average. All of them are well
educated, working in cutting edge technologies, and making good money. You
only have to look our president and his party to see that they ain't poor or
come with prestigious degrees.

Educated people understand that God's existence is the only viable explanation
for all that is. Either that, or all that is is just a big accident.

I agree, I mean what is the odds against a being capable of creating
the entire universe and everything in it (as per the claims) appearing
out of nothing as it were by accident? These odds are so impossible
that any claims that there is (or was) such a creature has to be
nothing more than a dreamed up fantasy by an educated elite
seeking to control the uneducated masses who they regard as
little more than a flock of sheep to be tendered by sheherds.

You have it exactly right there. For a long time now people have been
saying just that and lo, a god is invented. Thus the educated elite
controlled the uneducated masses.
