Haha...that was great.
Another great rapture related bumper sticker:

Crapola! Missed it. I'll have to try to remember to tape the rerun on
Tues.

I wonder if Elroy will get any royalty from them or will he have to sue?

He should at *least get a partial story credit. But that'll require
threatening noises from a lawyer.
(I think he's got a case, if it were me, I would've had a lawyer on the
phone this morning)

If I decided to get a lawyer, I wonder if all of the Christian lawyers
would have a problem with the case, since it basically involves making
fun of Jesus? Hmm... Would they not worry about that, and just be
interested in their cut of the legal action pie?

They didn't really use it on the show, did they? I don't get HBO
anymore, so I can't check it out. Are you just talking about the
episode name "In Case of Rapture?"

Yes, that's the episode. They used it in the beginning of the show...
the part where there's a short bit that always leads to the death of
someone and then their funeral is done at the Fischer's.

I have my Tivo set to record it tonight at 10:00 and will post some
video clips to the web after I get it encoded.

yup. I just watched it. It starts out with a couple guys filling these
dolls with helium in a adult product warehouse, they mention that the
dolls are for the AVN awards. Skip to the guys driving the pickup truck
loaded with the inflated dolls. They come to screeching stop to keep from
hitting a skateborder at which point several of the dolls get loose from
under the the netting holding the dolls in the back. Cut to a car with an
"in case of rapture" bumper sticker. The woman is listening to a preacher
on the radio and blurts out a praise Jesus in response to the preacher.
She sees the dolls floating in the air, which she sees as angelic with
flowing robes... She jumps out of the car "Oh my lord...sweet Jesus!" and
runs into traffic where she is run down.
Sound familar?

Well, not exactly angelic. She believes that these are people being
called to heaven by Jesus and she thinks she's about to go too.
It's amazing that otherwise rational adults believe this malarkey.

I've thought of setting up a stand outside some local churches
with video camera in hand, and asking the people going in and
out if they really believe the rapture baloney, and if they do, how do
they see it happening, and catching it all on tape and making a video
of it for sale on the internet. Dunno how many people might buy it,
but it might be fun to make anyway...
Has anyone ever seen anything like that done before?

Obviously..
HBO just put up a more detailed description of the episode.
See:
http://www.hbo.com/sixfeetunder/episode/season4/sea4_eps2.shtml
"Meanwhile, Nate becomes irrationally angry toward the Christian
mourner whose firm belief in God allows him to be at peace with the
unknowable circumstances surrounding his wife's death."
That's the connection?
I've got my Tivo set and ready...
