Evangelicals madder than a hatter in San Jose |
It seems a bunch of San Jose's Evangelical residents want to recall
the mayor and the city council (or most of it) over a same-sex
marriage flap. The city passed a law giving married same-sex couples
the same benefits given to other married city employees *provided*
that the marriages are determined to be legal by the courts. Mostly
the additional benefits are things like not having to wait until an
"open enrollment" period before coverage starts - things married
couples take for granted. The "Christians" are apparently a rather
hateful and mean spirited lot - in some cases the people being
denied immediate coverage are adopted children.
Not all Christians are pleased with these antics and are getting tired
of these Evangelicals trying to speak for them. But we know which
"Christians" George Bush is supporting, and he probably doesn't
realize how many votes he'll lose over it.

The RRR cultists are comprised 100% of PSEUDO-Christians
who are cloaking themselves in the mantle of the last vestiges of
respectability that Christianity still possesses (after their cult has
so badly discredited it) -- and actual Christians who have been conned
and programmed by the UN-Biblical and hateful dogmas of the cult.
The latter appear to be Christians who unfortunately were from the
ranks of the ignorant and gullible.
The latter component is outnumbered by more than 100-to-1 by
actual Christians who are NORMAL, FAIR-minded, sensible, and tolerant
people. Unfortunately for the fair-minded Christians, the noisy (and
very noisOME) RRR cultists are the squeaky wheels that attract all the
media attention.
Hence the reason I never listen to them. The Religious right fit right
into the same category as Opius Dei. I, on the other hand, listen to the
likes of the Jesuits (part of the Catholic Church), although they still
oppose abortion, they however, have come out in favour of using condoms
to stop the spread of STDs and recognitition of life long partnerships
of same sex couples.
These people are the thinkers of the church, and not the hot head,
simplistic soap box ranters of the far right, and unlike the religious
right, they acknowledge homosexuality as a thing a person is born with,
as a "gift from god".
Definitely looks like they have their heads on straight. They'll
probably come around to a sensible stance with regard to abortion,
too, one of these days. Since there is NO good argument against
that valuable remedy.
IIRC, I haven't read fully into their stance on abortion, however, I
did hear that it is along the lines of, "only if the life of the mother is
at risk" when abortion is acceptable. At the end of the day, society
cannot stay static, it evolves forward, those who are conservatives
today become obsolete tomorrow.
Indeed. The RRR cultists have BEEN obsolete for several
years now.
Yeah, but they're still running the USA.
Hence the reason why ever US citizen should get out there and vote.
Hammer those [pseudo-]Christian Fundamentalists back into the stone
age. Send the Religious Right the message that there is NO PLACE for
people like them in the US political system. Eventually they will be isolated
and die out.
And the sooner, the better!!
Their ultimate fate will be the same at that which befell the
segregationists. For the SAME reason: mindless and hateful
DISREGARD for universal individual liberties and across-the-board
EQUAL rights for all.

Thats what I love about Australia and New Zealand, as soon as you
mention Jesus or God, you've automatically lost the election. People
don't want to hear about that, people want to know about policies. If
people wanted to know about their leaders and their views on religion,
they would purchase an overpriced hardback biography.

That isn't really the case. The two parties are very well entrenched but
there's nothing in the system that prevents third parties from existing
and being significant players. Both of the current major parties started
out as "third parties".

No. The system was designed to have any number of parties. However,

True, however, it is very hard to get the third party into congress vs.
MMP, which is used in Germany and New Zealand where by any party that
gets at least 5% of the party vote is allocated, according to their
party vote share, seats in parliament from the seats set aside for party
votes, best explained http://www.elections.org.nz/
For example, http://www.electionresults.govt.nz/
United Future New Zealand received 7% of the party vote, meaning, they
received 8 seats in the 120 seats that are available even though they
only have one MP who stands for a particular electorate.
Going by that system, Nadar for example would have one 40 seats in the
US congress.

subscribe to PHONY dogmas found *nowhere* in the Bible, appoint
*themselves* as a ludicrous GESTAPO that seeks to impose and force
Biblical precepts (along with their phony dogmas) against society in
general... and would NOT be hateful control-freaks and busybodies.
The actual Christians among the RRR cultists have been CONNED by
the lis of the cult, and are as programmed as any cultists there have
ever been. The PSEUDO-Christians are hateful people with no lives
who've simply jumped on the bandwago, Because without pretending
to be Christians, they'd have NO excuse for bing so hateful.
Craig, you should know better than to try the "Not a True Christian"
fallacy.
Looks like I need to refresh my Resource Post on the RRR cult.
Watch for it.
Irrelevant and immaterial. "Jesus" certainly isn't 'correcting' anyone
who says they are a Christian, and aren't.
The purpose of that post is to shine a bright, fact-filled
spotlight on the HYPOCRISIES and FALLACIES of the
RRR Cult and its lemmings.

The blatant hypocracy inheirant in Christianity (to name one) has been
spotlit for centuries. It is still around wreaking destruction.

Thanks. Honest and normal Christains are fair-minded and
compassionate people, and they want NOTHING to do with the
hateful agendas of the RRR Cult. Unfortunately, they **also**
tend to be very apathetic, and thus they manifest their disdain
for the RRR by simply *ignoring* them. I really don't thin that most
christians have any idea of just how MUCH the RRR cult has
damaged the image of Christianity, both in America, and in much
of the rest of the world -- since the world watches the USA so
closely.
I'll tell you how badly it has damaged the US; people in the middle east
now associate Bill Graham's sons comments about Islam to the views of
the whole population of the US. Where do they make this conclusion? when
a president aligns himself, standing shoulder to shoulder with every
anti-Islamic preacher the US has to offer.
For those who are interested in Islam; The Life of Muhammad is a VERY
good book. It talks about the early part of his life and how he received
his revelations (and his his ministry up until his death with a small
passage about those who continued his work). When you read and look into
the origins of Islam, you start to appreciate that it has a close
relationship with Christianity; even the Vatican has opened up dialogue
with Islamic clerics.
The fact is, the large establish churches like the Church of England and
Catholic Church are opening dialogues to all faiths and working
together, which is a far cry to the so-called Christians who bible thump
and call themselves reverends on the basis that they did a lowly liberal
arts degree in theology (which anyone can do standing on their head).

Ha! You don't even need that. You can get ordained free
(accessories extra) in a couple of days through the
Universal Life Church at http://www.ulc.net/
"Become Ordained here today and begin your own ministry! As
a legally ordained minister, you may perform weddings,
funerals, baptisms and other functions of the clergy.
In existence since 1959, the Universal Life Church is
headquartered in Modesto, California, and has congregations
around the world. The sun never sets on the Universal Life
Church. ULC ministers come from all walks of life and
spiritual traditions. Our common thread is our adherence to
the universal doctrine of religious freedom:
Do only that which is right.
Every person has the natural right (and the responsibility)
to peacefully determine what is right. We are advocates of
religious freedom.
The Universal Life Church wants you to pursue your spiritual
beliefs without interference from any outside agency,
including government or church authority.
You may become a legally ordained minister for life, without
cost, and without question of faith."

LOL, that explains Phelps.
Mind you, I've always been sceptical of those who peal off from a
mainstream church to start their own church under the ***** excuse
of, "I received a revelation".
