Object: Evangelicals madder than a hatter in San Jose
It seems a bunch of San Jose's Evangelical residents want to recall
the mayor and the city council (or most of it) over a same-sex
marriage flap. The city passed a law giving married same-sex couples
the same benefits given to other married city employees *provided*
that the marriages are determined to be legal by the courts. Mostly
the additional benefits are things like not having to wait until an
"open enrollment" period before coverage starts - things married
couples take for granted. The "Christians" are apparently a rather
hateful and mean spirited lot - in some cases the people being
denied immediate coverage are adopted children.
Not all Christians are pleased with these antics and are getting tired
of these Evangelicals trying to speak for them. But we know which
"Christians" George Bush is supporting, and he probably doesn't
realize how many votes he'll lose over it.

Yeap, as I said to a friend, if I had a Pineapple and said it was a
"magical and spiritual pineapple", all I would have to do is write a
book about that special pineapple and get at least 150 people to believe
me to make it into a religion. The fact that it is a plain old pineapple
is immaterial.

Indeed, it is. :\

Actually, I don't think he has. He has only said that he could. But I

And the Lord spake, saying, 'First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin.
Then, shalt thou count to three. No more. No less. Three shalt be the
number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be
three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting
that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number

Yeap, as I said to a friend, if I had a Pineapple and said it was
a "magical and spiritual pineapple", all I would have to do is
write a book about that special pineapple and get at least 150
people to believe me to make it into a religion. The fact that it
is a plain old pineapple is immaterial.

Indeed, it is. :\

Actually, I don't think he has. He has only said that he could.
But I would love to see it, since it sounds like it would be

ROFL!!! Absolutely! Did you happen to see the thread where he made up
a verse from the book of Bruce? It starts here:

http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=3ujbmv4srmmmuu577j0h0mgs4g9rae8bvc%404ax.com

Don't forget the verses about the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch!

And the Lord spake, saying, 'First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin.
Then, shalt thou count to three. No more. No less. Three shalt be the
number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three.
Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that
thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three,
being the third number, be reached, then, lobbest thou thy Holy Hand
Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight,
shall snuff it.'

Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail

"One...two...five!"
"Three, sir!"
"Three!"
(Angels singing)
BOOM

Don't forget to 'Google' on "holy round meal." :))))

Nope. Hehehe. :-)

He also challenged me to find 10 Biblical scholars that agree with my

Thanks. Honest and normal Christains are fair-minded and
compassionate people, and they want NOTHING to do with the
hateful agendas of the RRR Cult. Unfortunately, they **also**
tend to be very apathetic, and thus they manifest their disdain
for the RRR by simply *ignoring* them. I really don't thin that most
christians have any idea of just how MUCH the RRR cult has
damaged the image of Christianity, both in America, and in much
of the rest of the world -- since the world watches the USA so
closely.

I'll tell you how badly it has damaged the US; people in the middle east
now associate Bill Graham's sons comments about Islam to the views of
the whole population of the US. Where do they make this conclusion? when
a president aligns himself, standing shoulder to shoulder with every
anti-Islamic preacher the US has to offer.

For those who are interested in Islam; The Life of Muhammad is a VERY
good book. It talks about the early part of his life and how he received
his revelations (and his his ministry up until his death with a small
passage about those who continued his work). When you read and look into
the origins of Islam, you start to appreciate that it has a close
relationship with Christianity; even the Vatican has opened up dialogue
with Islamic clerics.

The fact is, the large establish churches like the Church of England and
Catholic Church are opening dialogues to all faiths and working
together, which is a far cry to the so-called Christians who bible thump
and call themselves reverends on the basis that they did a lowly liberal
arts degree in theology (which anyone can do standing on their head).

Ha! You don't even need that. You can get ordained free
(accessories extra) in a couple of days through the
Universal Life Church at http://www.ulc.net/

"Become Ordained here today and begin your own ministry! As
a legally ordained minister, you may perform weddings,
funerals, baptisms and other functions of the clergy.

In existence since 1959, the Universal Life Church is
headquartered in Modesto, California, and has congregations
around the world. The sun never sets on the Universal Life
Church. ULC ministers come from all walks of life and
spiritual traditions. Our common thread is our adherence to
the universal doctrine of religious freedom:

Do only that which is right.

Every person has the natural right (and the responsibility)
to peacefully determine what is right. We are advocates of
religious freedom.

The Universal Life Church wants you to pursue your spiritual
beliefs without interference from any outside agency,
including government or church authority.

You may become a legally ordained minister for life, without
cost, and without question of faith."

LOL, that explains Phelps.

I think the fool is going to argue that one church the size of the

number of branches of southern baptism, etc. As for "pariah church,"
that is the fool's opinion only: in her mind, every church which

Explain why the Jesuits haven't been ex-communicated from the Catholic

Goldwater considered the "Religious Right" to be enemies of conservatism and
freedom. When they usurped the Republican Party in the early 1980s, Goldwater,
and the rest of the old-school conservatives became terminally estranged from
the GOP while the big-government, Christian-supremacist theocrats took over the

That's true. And in 1981 Goldwater warned the Congress in a speech on
the floor on what would happen if the Religious Reich ever took over the
Republican party. Sadly, or perhaps fortunately, Barry couldn't
visualize their depths of depravity-he might not have lived as long.
