It is amazing how many people STILL think the Republicans still stand
for:
1. reduced government spending.
2. reduced interference in your private life.
3. fiscal responsibility, balanced budgets.
4. states rights.
I was listening to Eisenhower, one of most decent Republican
presidents, speak at length today. He went on about how America was
the richest and more fortunate nation on earth, and how that gave them
the responsibility to guide the world to peace. I think he meant that.
He was not just mouthing platitudes. Of course he had the advantage of
being a general in WW II and knew what war was like and wanted very
strongly to avoid a repeat.
Bush still has no direct experience of the hell he is forcing on
everyone in Iraq both Iraqi and American. This world would be a very
different place if papa had not landed W. a cushy slot in the National
Guard. To W, war is just a spreadsheet or paper report Condi sometimes
reads to him, like stats from some far away baseball game.
Republicans claim to believe Bush when he tells them UA Flight 93
was hijacked by Saudi terrorists who were not aboard.

I did a doubletake, as it sounded like you meant live instead of a
recording. That would be a neat trick since he croaked in 1961. :)
