Object: Every Normal Person Longs For Jehovah's Paradise
I'm watching the satellite KTEH-54 channel's presentation of Andre Rieu: The
Flying Dutchman with the Johann Strauss Orchestra performing waltzes,
marches and melodies from around the world to a spectacular backdrop of
majestic mountains, rivers, streams and fields of flowers. This performance
was in 2005 to a packed stadium at the HP Pavilion in the city of San Jose
in northern California.
Watching this presentation hit home the fact that most normal, ordinary
people would love a pollution-free, clean global paradise where the air is
clean, the skies are clear and the stars are brightly magnified in
celestially illuminated night skies like thousands of years ago before man's
ruination of the biosphere.
What I find significant about this realization is that if you judged the
world based on the narrow minded individuals posting to these forums, you
would think that most people long for the entire planet to be covered with
neon lights, casinos, strip clubs and brothels. These newsgroups give a
distorted view of what normal, ordinary human beings long for in life!
Don't let these cynical and jaded atheists who keep harping there is nothing
beyond this life infect you with their hopelessness and "live it up now for
there is no tomorrow" that masks their despair.
Every time you hear husks of empty shells of philosophies crunching under
your heels as you walk through these newsgroups, remember an important fact.
This life is just the beginning of an adventure that will last an eternity,
and life is meaningful. Don't let anyone's words no matter how cynical lead
you into the darkness away from that lantern of truth.

And then you realize that Andre Rieu is just a fair violinist but is able to
put on a show. The difference between Andre and people like Sarah Chang,
Anne Sofie Mutter, and others of that caliber is that they don't need a fancy
backdrop, expensive lights, etc. All they have to do is show up and the
crowds appear.
When Andre has turned into a has-been, Sarah Chang will be there continuing
to perform, teach, etc.

Actually, it has been a hallmark of the Christian tradition to go ahead and
foul the earth. Afterall, this life is nothing but corruption and sin
beginning with the Fall in Eden. Why not despoil it? What does suffering and
waste matter in this life, when the next life is paradise?

Of course the HP Pavilion is indoors in the main city of Silicon
Valley. There is no "spectacular backdrop of majestic mountains,

railroad station and the rest of the urban landscape. If the pollution

As do I. And I'm an atheist.

What I find significant about this realization is that if you judged the

Atheists are no more narrow minded than theists, moron.

you
would think that most people long for the entire planet to be covered with

No, dear. That's Oral Roberts you're describing.
Now, since this statement sauces my tacos so badly, let me ask you a
question: why would I, as an atheist, want those things you claim I
want? I don't gamble (can't figure out why it's supposed to be fun), I
*hate* neon lights, and I'm a woman, so I'm not big on either strip
clubs *or* brothels. And the last time I even went into a bar was
October 21, 1994, so gee, it seems like your assessment of atheists is,
well...wrong.
As a matter of fact, what I love more than anything is spending time
out in the wilderness, fishing, hunting with a camera, or riding
horseback. I've been an environmentalist since 1960, when I was 11
years old and realized what humans were doing to this planet.
On there other hand, there are the fundamentalist Christians who
propose that we use up *all* the world's goods and resources as fast as
we possibly can, because only then will Jebus return. Atheists
generally don't hold to that philosophy, as we know there ain't nothin'
else, and we better take care of what we have.

These newsgroups give a
distorted view of what normal, ordinary human beings long for in life!

Now you're just flinging mud at us for the sake of doing it.

Don't let these cynical and jaded atheists who keep harping there is nothing

Hey, Precision: my idea of "living it up" and having a wild time is
sneaking cookies into a library.
I'm quite a happy little person, too, quite unplagued by hopelessness
and despair to claim I feel. Geez, can you get *anything* right? I
think not.

Every time you hear husks of empty shells of philosophies crunching under
your heels as you walk through these newsgroups, remember an important fact.
This life is just the beginning of an adventure that will last an eternity,

Got any actual *evidence* to support that assertion?
:::crickets:::
I didn't think so.

I'm watching the satellite KTEH-54 channel's presentation of Andre
Rieu: The Flying Dutchman with the Johann Strauss Orchestra performing
waltzes, marches and melodies from around the world to a spectacular
backdrop of majestic mountains, rivers, streams and fields of flowers.
This performance was in 2005 to a packed stadium at the HP Pavilion in
the city of San Jose in northern California.

So... I am wondering where they obtained these pictures of majestic
mountains, rivers, streams and fields of flowers? I take it someone drew
them? They cannot have been photographed, after all - you imply that
such scenes have not existed for thousands of years.

Watching this presentation hit home the fact that most normal,
ordinary people would love a pollution-free, clean global paradise
where the air is clean, the skies are clear and the stars are brightly
magnified in celestially illuminated night skies like thousands of
years ago before man's ruination of the biosphere.

What I find significant about this realization is that if you judged
the world based on the narrow minded individuals posting to these
forums, you would think that most people long for the entire planet to
be covered with neon lights, casinos, strip clubs and brothels. These
newsgroups give a distorted view of what normal, ordinary human beings
long for in life!

I tend to think that you yourself have a rather distorted view of life.
Perhaps based on your religious perception of the world? I have rarely
seen anyone post to these groups (I subscribe to ARC but regularly read
crossposted messages) suggesting that anyone wants a brothel-covered
planet. Certainly I would not - yet most militant fundamentalist
Christians tell me I am an atheist.

Don't let these cynical and jaded atheists who keep harping there is
nothing beyond this life infect you with their hopelessness and "live
it up now for there is no tomorrow" that masks their despair.

Actually, the message I have heard from most atheists has been "make the
most of life, it is all you have". You might believe that that implies
'hopelessness' or 'despair' - but in my experience (and I generalise
hugely for some are atheists simply because they do not bother thinking
about it) these people tend to have far more concern for their planet,
since they know that it is up to *us* to save it - whereas apocalyptic
Christians can simply kick back and wait for God to come and sort it all
out.

Every time you hear husks of empty shells of philosophies crunching
under your heels as you walk through these newsgroups, remember an
important fact. This life is just the beginning of an adventure that
will last an eternity, and life is meaningful. Don't let anyone's
words no matter how cynical lead you into the darkness away from that
lantern of truth.

That is not a fact. It is a belief. It may be true, or it may not. We
(and in 'we' I include you) simply cannot know. We can only believe,
though we might convince ourselves that that equates to knowledge.

Melomania diluted and watered down for the Xtian crowd. As for me,
take me to Mussogorsky's Bald Mountain...or how about those witches

Don't get me wrong, but the only Xtianity I can stand is catholicism.
Why? Because the child molesting SOB's have most of the churches with

Bare mountain. Not bald - stupid US censors renamed it because prudes
didn't like one of the many meanings of bare. As though mountains can

We also thought it was silly that they replaced barefaced with bald
faced and titbit with tid-bit.
Tit is an old English word meaning small, that has largely fallen into
disuse. But it stayed on as the name of a small bird, a titbit, and a
few other words.

I will bet a million dollars that you aren't planning to move to the
wilderness and abandon your car, electricity, and central heating. I
can just imagine what it would be like if everyone did that.

Speaking of brothels, didn't your Lord and Saviour have some
familiarity with an alleged hooker? Didn't he live in towns and

Hey, I'd love to live forever too, but I'm realistic (and happy). If
anyone seems desparate, it's you, since you are so afraid of death you
will buy into ancient delusions of imortality to avoid facing the

Which we can get by driving south on Highhway 17 into the Coast Range.
Indeed, many of the people at the show that night were "over the hill"
folk; people who live in the mountains or in Santa Cruz.

The fact that the majority of humans choose to live in cities is
telling. We like modern settings. We like being able to get a

Don't let these cynical and jaded atheists who keep harping there is nothing
