Evil Bible Quote of the Day for Jan. 18, 2004 from www.EvilBible.com:
Laws of Rape (Deuteronomy 22:28-29 NLT)
"If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not
engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must
marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed
to divorce her."
What kind of person would get their moral guidance from an ancient book of
myths and magic that says it is OK to murder, rape, pillage, and plunder?

Despite my opinion also that the bible is flawed in places it doesnt change
the fact that there IS a war going on RIGHT NOW here on earth between light
and darkness, good and evil etc.......... And as it is still going on now
theres no doubt when the bible was written in was going on then so maybe a
lot of bad stuff made it into the bible, i mean who says the people who
chose which books entered the bible were holy, who says the people who
interpretated the original scriptures were holy. You seem to have interest
in bible stories so instead of picking out the flaws why don't you look for
the good bits and debate on those.

Some simple questions?
How do you objectively determine which parts of the bible are the
original "holy scriptures" and which are the "bad stuff"?
How can you objectively show that "good and evil" really exist in the
world and aren't simply subjective opinions about what occurs?

Erm... find the ones that give you warm fuzzies? No, wait, find the ones
that tell you to do exactly what you already want to do!

Apparently you think that most of the Bible is fiction. I do too. With so
many lies and untruths in the Bible I don't see how anyone could believe any
of it. I'll choose to believe that all the parts describing a God are
fiction too.

No there isn't. It's all in your mind. If there is a war going on
here, it is a war between people who actually believe in fictional
people and stuff like God, Jesus, and the bible vs. people that don't
believe in such nonsense. Also, is not an opinion that the bible is
flawed, it is a fact.

Once again you must be educated:

Sex was not considered to be a matter of private moral decision in
Israel; it was something of community concern. These laws regulate
sexual behavior out of concern for fairness to the parties involved and
a recognition that the whole community has a stake in these matters.
Although these laws are one-sided and operate from an exclusively male
viewpoint, they did offer women some limited protection from the worst
excesses of male domination.
The concern for fairness is clearest in vv. 13-21. The husband’s charge
may be a vicious pretext for divorce, but the parents may be able to
clear their daughter’s name by showing the “token” of her virginity, a
cloth stained with the blood of her wedding night. Both mother and
father share this parental role (cf. 21:18-21). The husband is punished
severely because he has defamed her and the nation as well. She is
justly protected from further attempts at divorce. If her parents cannot
prove her previous virginity, however, she is assumed to have committed
a “folly in Israel” (22:21) and is stoned beside her father’s house as a
sign of the shame she has brought to her family. Whether she turns out
to be guilty or innocent, this is no private matter of her personal
behavior, for the reputation of the nation is at stake (vv. 19, 21).
Five laws guarding sexual purity follow. Adultery and rape are seen as
offenses against the husband or father of the woman involved. There
seems to be no concern for rape as a crime of violence against the woman
herself in these laws. If both parties are caught in adultery, that is,
if the woman is married to someone else, both must die, for this is an
evil to be purged from Israel (v. 22). The case is similar if she is
betrothed, since that was the legal equivalent of marriage (vv. 23-24).
Deuteronomy’s concern for fairness is evident if the couple is
discovered in the country, for then this must be considered a case of
rape by force in virtue of the circumstances (vv. 25-27). If the raped
woman is not married or betrothed (vv. 28-29), the matter is less
serious, a clear indication that rape was viewed as a crime against the
victim’s husband. In this case it is a crime against her father, and he
is compensated for the loss of her bride price (cf. Exod. 22:16-17). She
is, however, protected by the law from a life of shame and the
destruction of her prospects for marriage (cf. 2 Sam. 13:13, 16, 19) by
marriage to her attacker without any future threat of divorce.
The series concludes with an apodictic prohibition designed to protect
the integrity of the extended family in a polygamous context (Deut.
22:30; cf. 27:20). Sexual relations with a stepmother did not occur only
as a mere clandestine affair (as Gen. 35:22); it could also result from
a son’s inheriting his father’s wives and concubines (1 Kings 2:22).

This is simply restating what the Bible says and adding commentary that it
is moral. I don't see anything moral about making a rape victim marry her
attacker only to be raped again with the blessings of that society. The
people who did this would be in jail or dead in any moral society.

Jesus stole my sandal designs

The Messiah wilted my fruit tree
Jesus made the person I had struck blind see again
Dog live, evil God

Jesus had balsawood sandals
