Evil Bible Quote of the Day for July 16 (Kill Anyone who Approaches the Tabernacle) |
Evil Bible Quote of the Day for July 16, 2004 from www.EvilBible.com:
Kill Anyone who Approaches the Tabernacle (Numbers 1:48-51 NLT)
"For the LORD had said to Moses, 'Exempt the tribe of Levi from the
census; do not include them when you count the rest of the Israelites. You
must put the Levites in charge of the Tabernacle of the Covenant, along with
its furnishings and equipment. They must carry the Tabernacle and its
equipment as you travel, and they must care for it and camp around it.
Whenever the Tabernacle is moved, the Levites will take it down and set it
up again. Anyone else who goes too near the Tabernacle will be executed.'"
(Numbers 1:48-51 NLT)
What kind of person would get their moral guidance from an ancient book of
myths and magic that says it is OK to murder, rape, pillage, and plunder?

I do believe there is someone who posts a bible quote of the day.
Also-you will note the quotes used protray the bible in a less than
wonderful light (unless you believe encouraging people to kill is a good
thing) and the handle Evilbible.
the post is aptly titled.

It also means that no one can pretend that there isn't a common argument
posted to this newsgroup, and that it is reasonable to dub it the "Evil
Bible" argument.
(Amazingly enough, Editor found grounds to complain that my summary
"The Evil Bible argument. The Bible contains some wicked injunctions, so it
can't be the word of God." was a strawman. You can read the discussion in
the "common arguments" thread).

*** Your quotes are more bi-weekly than daily.

Does it? I have to confess I have never read it, but if someone wants to go
ahead and post evil qur'an quotes of the day they can feel free. It doesnt
change the fact the post is properly titled.

I'd love to have seen this - a bunch of Levites camping it up.

comon', the bible is a comical representation of the most immoral type
of government you could think of. the pesants are all made to feel
guilty for some imagined sin, the priests require them to make 'guilt
offerings' of rack of lamb, and their best grain, their firstborn
child, which magically disappears off the barbecue rack because 'God
ate it'.
