Evil Bible Quote of the Day for July 28 (God Will Kill Children) |
Evil Bible Quote of the Day for July 28, 2003 from www.EvilBible.com:
God Will Kill the Children of Sinners (Leviticus 26:21-22 NLT)
"If even then you remain hostile toward me and refuse to obey, I will
inflict you with seven more disasters for your sins. I will release wild
animals that will kill your children and destroy your cattle, so your
numbers will dwindle and your roads will be deserted."
What kind of person would get their moral guidance from an ancient book of
myths and magic that says it is OK to murder, rape, pillage, and plunder?

Once again the bible illustrates its divine perspicacity. God forsees
traffic congestion and even provides the proper, deity approved
solution.
Praise the Lord!

No, instead, I don't really believe that God 'stated' that. Instead, I think
that that statement is an ancient Hebrews *perception* of God.
The REAL PERCEPTION of God is the teachings we have in the Gospels.
1 Corinthians 2
15The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not
subject to any man's judgment:
16"For who has known the mind of the Lord
that he may instruct him?"[1] But we have the mind of Christ.
John 8
58"I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!"

Hey, I think he's onto something. I happen to believe the same thing only I
believe the NT is partial myth as well. Finally a christian agrees that the
hideos OT is a bunch of stories from a bunch of brutal men. It's about
time.
Perhaps the farse and hypocrisy that all of the Old Testament is Gods Will and
commanded by God should be addressed and debated. But, at least some of the Old
Testament is in character with the Teaching of Christ in the New Testament.

You're looking at things backwards. "The teaching of Christ" is a
violation of the bible, which states very plainly that not even a
single punctuation mark (jot or tittle) shall be changed as long as
either heaven or Earth still exist.
Assuming that the biblical Jesus even existed, for which there's
absolutely no objective evidence, and against which there's loads of
evidence.

Since not everything has been accomplished, that means nothing. (Of
course you can misinterpret "everything" to mean anything you want it
to mean, but if you accept the actual meaning we have a few billion
years to go yet.)

People build temples all the time. That's a very lame excuse.
It's a little more complicated than that. Supposedly, there was a room called
the Holy of Holies where God supposedly actually resided. Unless you build a
Temple the way God says it should be built and able to talk God into residing in
the Holy of Holies, then you don't really have a Temple.

Of course they did believe such nonsense. The New Testament tells a

The ancient Hebrews say that God lost favor with them and allowed punishment to
occur. I would assume the writers in order to get the story correct believed
that God vacated the Temple before it was overrun and destroyed.

That's what the ancient Hebrews said, not what your god said.
I would assume the writers in order to get the story correct believed
that God vacated the Temple before it was overrun and destroyed.
That may be what they believed, but it's not what your god said. Nor
is any of the story found to be possible by archaeology.

The Temples were destroyed by men. Do you think that a

The ancient Hebrews say that God lost favor with them and allowed punishment
to
occur.
That's what the ancient Hebrews said, not what your god said.

When you say "That's what the ancient Hebrews said, not what your god said", it
makes me think that we think alike in this area. My take is that some of the OT
is God speaking to man, but much of the OT is also mans *perception* of Gods
Will. Because man is not perfect, mans perception of Gods Will is sometimes
errant too. One instance where I think man used God in error is when Samuel
told King Saul that God commands you to kill the Amalekites including their
women, children, infants, and animals.

No, we don't think alike. The bible, both testaments, is man speaking
to men.

And another was in the entire myth of Jesus.
How in HELL could anyone, 300 years after the fact, know that a
particular woman was a virgin when she conceived? (No, the OT claims
don't establish Mary's virginity, since they don't refer to a Messiah
who leads the enemy of the Jews. And, even if they did, your position
is that the OT is merely man's incorrect attempt at writing things
down, so it proves nothing.)

People build temples all the time. That's a very lame excuse.
It's a little more complicated than that. Supposedly, there was a room called
the Holy of Holies where God supposedly actually resided.
Just a con by the Jewish priests. They killed anyone who tried to get
into the area.
Unless you build a Temple the way God says it should be built and able
to talk God into residing in the Holy of Holies, then you don't really have
a Temple.
Don't tell me you believe such rubbish, do you?

No, I would not think so. God might not want to reside in the Holy of Holies.
Building the third Temple could possibly be an embarassing non-event.

As I said, the NT is a violation of the bible, which states very
plainly that not even a single punctuation mark (jot or tittle) shall
be changed as long as either heaven or Earth still exist.
The Mosaic Law's words still exist but no one can follow the Mosaic Law in its

Covenant we can follow is the New Covenant.

I understand "until everything is accomplished" to mean when Christs life as a
human on earth is finished - when he died on the Cross. Christ brought a New
Covenant - a new way to do Gods Will that was not corrupted by traditions and
culture peculiar to a specific race of people. Christ brought about a new way
for us humans to view the world - a spiritual view of the world and not one that
promotes ones culture or 'traditions of the elders'.

The Mosaic Law is still there in Scripture so it has not disappeared. But, it
cannot be obeyed because there is no Temple to offer animal blood sacrifices.
The offering of the New Covenant was in 30 AD and the end of the Old Covenant
was in 70 AD.
