Evil Bible Quote of the Day for Nov. 10 (*****-faced Priests) |
Evil Bible Quote of the Day for Nov. 10, 2003 from www.EvilBible.com:
*****-faced Priests (Malachi 2:1-4 NLT)
"Listen, you priests; this command is for you! Listen to me and take it
to heart. Honor my name," says the LORD Almighty, "or I will bring a
terrible curse against you. I will curse even the blessings you receive.
Indeed, I have already cursed them, because you have not taken my warning
seriously. I will rebuke your descendants and splatter your faces with the
dung of your festival sacrifices, and I will add you to the dung heap. Then
at last you will know it was I who sent you this warning so that my covenant
with the Levites may continue," says the LORD Almighty.
What kind of person would get their moral guidance from an ancient book of
myths and magic that says it is OK to murder, rape, pillage, and plunder?

The KJV is even better:
Malachi 2:3 Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your
faces, even the dung of your solemn feasts; and one shall take you away with
it.
If you'll notice the discrepancy between the two versions. The newer version
tries to clean this up a bit by using "dung" in conjunction with feast. The
original version implied "spreading feces" *plus* the "dung of your feasts."
I've always said that NIV stands for the New and Improved Version. It is
where the Bible went to committee for a rewrite and someone said, "We can't
put that ***** in there!" along with, "We'll look like bigger idiots than we
do now." ...or... "Those stories have already been debunked. We have to
embellish some more."

What I like is the lameness of the whole dung thing. It's like the god
started talking without planning how he was going to finish his sentence,
and ended up using dung twice because he couldn't think of another word fast
enough.
Pathetic.
