Don't Think (Proverbs 3:5 NAB)
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, on your own intelligence rely
not;"
What kind of person would get their moral guidance from an ancient book of
myths and magic that says it is OK to murder, rape, pillage, and plunder?

Evil Bible Quote of the Day for Oct. 16, 2003 from www.EvilBible.com:

Don't Think (Proverbs 3:5 NAB)

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, on your own intelligence rely
not;"

Matthew Henry's Commentary:
We must have a continual regard to God's providence, must own and
depend upon it in all our affairs, both by faith and prayer. 1. By
faith. We must repose an entire confidence in the wisdom, power, and
goodness of God, assuring ourselves of the extent of his providence to
all the creatures and all their actions. We must therefore trust in
the Lord with all our hearts (v. 5); we must believe that he is able
to do what he will, wise to do what is best, and good, according to
his promise, to do what is best for us, if we love him, and serve him.
We must, with an entire submission and satisfaction, depend upon him
to perform all things for us, and not lean to our own understanding,
as if we could, by any forecast of our own, without God, help
ourselves, and bring our affairs to a good issue. Those who know
themselves cannot but find their own understanding to be a broken
reed, which, if they lean to, will certainly fail them. In all our
conduct we must be diffident of our own judgment, and confident of
God's wisdom, power, and goodness, and therefore must follow
Providence and not force it. That often proves best which was least
our own doing.
What kind of person would think God to be evil, when the Bible clearly
states that it is us humans who have chosen to be evil, and yet God
loved us so much that he gave his only son Jesus to die for our sins,
that if we believe and put our faith in him, we will not perish for
our sins as we deserve, but spend eternity in paradise with him?

Whoever is smart enough to read what the bible really says and not do
something stupid like listen to a preacher or worship the book.
when the Bible clearly

According to your bible, your god created everything, including evil.
So why should the blame be on the creations if the creator fucked
things up?
and yet God

loved us so much that he gave his only son Jesus to die for our sins,

Is if me, or does this sounds really stupid? If your god is really
all that powerful, why did it not get rid of mankind's sins without
sacrificing someone? Your god doesn't sound very smart nor is it
worthy of my worship even if it did exist.

that if we believe and put our faith in him, we will not perish for
our sins as we deserve, but spend eternity in paradise with him?

Since "him" doesn't exist anyway, then why should I worry about it.

something stupid like listen to a preacher or worship the book.

Ironically, I read the entire passage from the Bible, studied it, and
replied with an explaination of what the Bible was really talking
about, showing that God is in fact not evil; you on the other hand,
simply listened to whatever twisted conclusion the "evil editor"
preached at you...

when the Bible clearly

According to your bible, your god created everything, including evil.

God did not create evil beings, he created beings with a choice
whether or not to obey his commands; that we have chosen to disobey is
what makes us evil; however, we can go to the Lord for forgiveness if
we choose to do so.

and yet God

If God does not require punishment for a behavior, then that behavior is
not a sin. Sin is defined as that which disobeys God commands. The
fact that God can forgive any sin is still true, but he says you must
first ask for forgiveness through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, and
commit your life to him if you want to be forgiven in God's eyes.

Wrong. The bible clearly says that god creates evil. See Isaiah 45:7.

If the son really was a god then no sacrifice occurred. For a god being
tortured and executed is nothing. Nothing was lost and therefore nothing
was sacrificed.

The bible clearly says that god creates evil. See Isaiah 45:7.

Isaiah 45:1-9:
Thus says the LORD to His anointed,
To Cyrus, whose right hand I have held--
To subdue nations before him
And loose the armor of kings,
To open before him the double doors,
So that the gates will not be shut:
2"I will go before you
And make the crooked places[1] straight;
I will break in pieces the gates of bronze
And cut the bars of iron.
3I will give you the treasures of darkness
And hidden riches of secret places,
That you may know that I, the LORD,
Who call you by your name,
Am the God of Israel.
4For Jacob My servant's sake,
And Israel My elect,
I have even called you by your name;
I have named you, though you have not known Me.
5I am the LORD, and there is no other;
There is no God besides Me.
I will gird you, though you have not known Me,
6That they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting
That there is none besides Me.
I am the LORD, and there is no other;
7I form the light and create darkness,
I make peace and create calamity;
I, the LORD, do all these things.'
8"Rain down, you heavens, from above,
And let the skies pour down righteousness;
Let the earth open, let them bring forth salvation,
And let righteousness spring up together.
I, the LORD, have created it.
9"Woe to him who strives with his Maker!
Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth!
Shall the clay say to him who forms it, "What are you making?'
Or shall your handiwork say, "He has no hands'?"
That's funny, the word "evil" doesn't even appear in this passage.
Light and darkness (day and night), and peace and calamity are
mentioned, but no mention of evil. Calamity, by the way, is defined
by Webster as "misery caused by misfortune or loss," as the Bible also
says the Lord giveth and Lord taketh away. Care to try again?

If the son really was a god then no sacrifice occurred. For a god being
tortured and executed is nothing.

Do you also think that a man or woman being tortured and executed is
nothing either?

You are using a false translation. The KJV says evil and that is the
correct translation. If you want to rewrite the bible, why don't you do
the job properly and correct all the errors and remove the lies. That way
you would end up with a single blank page. The good news is that you
would be able spend more on having a fancy cover.

It is nothing for a god as the god loses nothing. For a man or woman it
is an actual loss.

The Hebrew word used here is "'ed" which most closely means calamity
or disaster in today's language. The King James translation is not
the most accurate translation for 21st century English speakers, as it
was translated in the late 1500s - a closer translation for our
language would be the New King James, translated in 1982, which, by
the way, uses the word "calamity" in the passage in question.

from Webster's at m-w.com:
calamity: Pronunciation: k&-'la-m&-tE
1 : a state of deep distress or misery caused by major misfortune or
loss
That "the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away" things from people
does not make him evil, since everything is the Lord's, and anything
he gives to us is an undeserved gift. Again, evil are those who
disobey God, as our ultimate authority is God himself, thus since God

I don't see anything about God in this definition of "evil". Christians

Whoa there - when you say, "God is evil" you are using the word evil
as an ADJECTIVE, not as a noun. Thus, you must use the definition for
the word's adjectival form, which is that of being "morally
reprehensible," and since God is the judge of moral behavior, whether
it be reprehensible or not, and God does not judge himself as
reprehensible, he cannot be called evil.

When I say "God is evil", "evil" is a noun. If I said "God is an evil
*****", then evil would be an adjective because it modifies the noun
"*****".
Even if was a adjective, the definition of "evil" in www.m-w.com is:
1 a : morally reprehensible : SINFUL, WICKED <an evil impulse> b : arising
from actual or imputed bad character or conduct <a man of evil reputation>
2 a archaic : INFERIOR b : causing discomfort or repulsion : OFFENSIVE <an
evil odor> c : DISAGREEABLE <woke late and in an evil temper>
3 a : causing harm : PERNICIOUS <the evil institution of slavery> b : marked
by misfortune : UNLUCKY
Clearly definition 3a of "evil" would fit God.

Actually your whole "evil editing" has been a giant weak attempt to
prove God morally reprehensible, definition 1a, and you have been
using what you consider harmful things happening to people as proof of
moral reprehensibility; but your whole argument is backwards because
morality is defined by God himself, not you, and evil are not those

So your whole argument is that God does things that most people would find
evil and immoral yet he is not evil and immoral because he is God. That is
the logical fallacy of special pleading. There is no logical reason why God
should be exempt from morality. If anything I would think that an
all-knowing and all-powerful being should be held to a higher standard of
morality because he would know the consequences of his actions and could
feel the pain he has caused others.

The christian god is morally bankrupt. Do you know why?
Because it is an anthropomorphic god - a god made in our

Since God is causing the calamity in this verse he is evil.

from Webster's at m-w.com:
calamity: Pronunciation: k&-'la-m&-tE
1 : a state of deep distress or misery caused by major misfortune or
loss

That "the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away" things from people
does not make him evil, since everything is the Lord's, and anything
he gives to us is an undeserved gift. Again, evil are those who
disobey God, as our ultimate authority is God himself, thus since God
does not disobey himself, he cannot be called evil.

All you are saying here is that God's standards are very low and that
might makes right. God is an evil dictator. If Herr Bush wishes to stamp
out evil he must take out God.

Done. Shrub is the replacement.

What kind of person would think God to be evil,

Whoever is smart enough to read what the bible really says and not do
something stupid like listen to a preacher or worship the book.

Ironically, I read the entire passage from the Bible, studied it, and
replied with an explaination of what the Bible was really talking
about, showing that God is in fact not evil; you on the other hand,
simply listened to whatever twisted conclusion the "evil editor"
preached at you...

when the Bible clearly
states that it is us humans who have chosen to be evil,

According to your bible, your god created everything, including evil.

God did not create evil beings, he created beings with a choice
whether or not to obey his commands; that we have chosen to disobey is
what makes us evil; however, we can go to the Lord for forgiveness if
we choose to do so.

On what do we base our choices? We are God's victims. God should be
begging for our forgiveness and offering to change his ways.

and yet God

loved us so much that he gave his only son Jesus to die for our sins,

Is if me, or does this sounds really stupid? If your god is really
all that powerful, why did it not get rid of mankind's sins without
sacrificing someone?

It is really stupid. Even after satisfying his lusts with a stupid ritual, God
still didn't fix his errors.

What must we do to get God to see that he is the problem>

Evil Bible Quote of the Day for Oct. 16, 2003 from www.EvilBible.com:

Don't Think (Proverbs 3:5 NAB)

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, on your own intelligence rely
not;"

The mark of a true con artist. I'm from the government. I'm here to help.

What kind of God would seek out the truly naive? A con artist God.
If it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

Yeah! What kind of person would consider it to be evil for God to create
beings that are evil and then condemn them for being the way he made
them?
What kind of person would consider it to be evil for God to prefer a stupid
and pointless ritual to actually doing something to correct his errors?

Matthew Henry's Commentary:

(snip drivel)

What kind of person would think God to be evil,

1) A person who can actually read.
2) According to the xtian superstition, "God" created everything which
includes evil.

when the Bible clearly
states that it is us humans who have chosen to be evil,

The Bible lies.
The Bible says bats are birds, rabbits chew their cud and that genocide
and eternal torture are good.
With an omniscient character there is not choice. There is only a bunch
of people hitting their marks and spouting their lines in a pointless
play as scripted eons ago.
Same thing with an omnipotent character. Pharoh illustrates that
nicely.
The mythical A&E didn't *choose* anything. They did not have the
knowledge to discern 'good and evil' until *after* they ate the magic
apple.

and yet God
loved us so much that he gave his only son Jesus to die for our sins,

Oh bull *****.
You've got a universe spanning entity that rapes a female (beastiality)
then has part of itself born and then inconvenienced for a few days to
console itself.
"Jesus" was inconvenienced for his own sins.

that if we believe and put our faith in him, we will not perish for
our sins as we deserve, but spend eternity in paradise with him?

And Dorothy really really *did* translocate back to Kansas by clicking
her heels together thrice and chanting an incantation.
/me sometimes gets very disgusted with so-called adults that can't be
bothered to use their brains and follow fairy tales. Congradulations on
demonstrating your morality is on the level of 'dog training.'

Evil Bible Quote of the Day for Oct. 16, 2003 from www.EvilBible.com:

Don't Think (Proverbs 3:5 NAB)

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, on your own intelligence

rely

not;"

Out of context again. Also, this one is a good demonstration of how to
read things into the Bible which are not there.
So EE, do you rely on your own intelligence? All the time? Did you
design and manufacture the car you drive? Are there people smarter than
you? Or are you the smartest person in the world? Do you from time to
time ask another person for advice?
King Solomon, the wisest person at the time, wrote Prov 3. King Solomon
was also humble enough to know that the world is too complicated for any man
to grasp. He relied on God for the hard decisions.
Does God want people to use their brains? "Love the Lord your God with
all your heart, all your soul and all your mind." You are to use your
mind--all your mind. But your mind is often insufficient.

If you insist that this is "out of context", please give us your
"in-context" version.

So EE, do you rely on your own intelligence?

Damn Right!!!

All the time?

All the time, unless I get really drunk and stupid.

Did you design and manufacture the car you drive?

Hell no!

Are there people smarter than you?

Of course there are!

Or are you the smartest person in the world?

Nope!

Do you from time to time ask another person for advice?

Of course I do.

King Solomon, the wisest person at the time,

Says who, the stupidest person of all time?

wrote Prov 3. King Solomon
was also humble enough to know that the world is too complicated for any

man

to grasp. He relied on God for the hard decisions.

So what? Idiots believe in God. Nothing new here.

Does God want people to use their brains?

Apparently not.

"Love the Lord your God with
all your heart, all your soul and all your mind." You are to use your
mind--all your mind. But your mind is often insufficient.

Your mind is very insufficient.
