Evil Bible Quote of the Day for Oct. 30, 2003 from www.EvilBible.com:
God Sends Poisonous Snakes (Jeremiah 8:17 NAB)
"Yes, I will send against you poisonous snakes, Against which no charm
will work when they bite you, says the LORD."
What kind of person would get their moral guidance from an ancient book of
myths and magic that says it is OK to murder, rape, pillage, and plunder?

There is no judgement seat, but if there was God would not dare
find any problems, for if he did he would be condemning himself.

Many people live only to delight themselves with sin. I think the
Lord is still crying to this day bout those that rise up against him,

So God punishes people for being the way he made them?

One would be (I think) in Revelations where Jesus is yearning to have

The second one would be in the OT. From what I can recall this verse
happens right after something good (positive) happening. The negative
thing I'm looking for is where 'god' is laughingly indicating it feels
sorry for the inequities it has scheduled to inflict on his 'creations.'

I don't read Revelations much at all. I reads like a bad acid trip. It's
impossible to understand without adding your own thoughts into it. I once
read a book that showed that mushrooms were quite common in early religious
symbols. I think the author(s) were munching too many psychedelic mushrooms
when the were "inspired" to write Revelations.

This could be in Job where God inflicts all sorts of nasty things to a
totally innocent Job and then rewards him for his faith.
Or maybe (Jeremiah 42:9-10 NAB):
(The prophet Jeremiah speaking) Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel,
to whom you sent me to offer your prayer: If you remain quietly in this land
I will build you up, and not tear you down; I will plant you, not uproot
you; for I regret the evil I have done you.

Agreed. I don't read it, I utilize the search engine via key words to
find things. One of these days the proper work will come to mind.

No, that isn't it. However, such is a couple possibilities to focus on.

Ben, don't get your panties in a bunch. Get yourself a bible and read
it. The Editor was referring, mainly, to the OT since it is the ancient
part of the bible. The OT is no better. Take a look at 2Kings 2:23;
Ezekiel 9:5,6,7; and on, and on. And, of course, don't forget good, ol'
JC himself violating nature 'cause the tree was not giving fruit when he
was before it so, naturally, he KILLED the tree. Get your act together

Yes, he killed the tree as a sign to his disciples that those who would not
produce fruit in life were no better then this tree. By the wy if Christ
can take life he can also give life, or didnt you think that far. In fact
at the end *all* will be ressurected, some to everlasting life, some to
everlasting death. Life & death in the scriptures talks about quality of
life since all will finally live forever.

applying to that current quote and sometimes it does not.
BTW, the OT does say it is ok to murder, rape, and pillage.

Not that I need to defend Editors post.

But that is his/her standard footnote. It is a general comment sometimes
applying to that current quote and sometimes it does not.

BTW, the OT does say it is ok to murder, rape, and pillage.

It depends on taste, but it is usually better to rape and then murder;
and remember, pillage and then burn; never burn first.

The Bible is full of contradictions. Simply because the Bible contradicts
itself doesn't mean that it doesn't contain many passages which approve of
murder, rape, pillage, and plunder. My web site points out these passages
explicitly.
For murder: http://www.evilbible.com/Murder.htm
For rape: http://www.evilbible.com/Rape.htm
I don't have a web page devoted just to pillage and plunder, but my Evil
Bible Quotes of the Day page has many examples of this crime:

The christian god ORDERS such acts in the OT. Maybe you
should read it some time.

In fact I believe that the Bible specificly[sic] condemns

Only if those acts are against fellow believers.

Jesus never said that. It is _CLAIMED_ that he said that.

That was, in the original, a prohibition against murdering

Numbers. Now why is it called "Numbers"? Is it because of
the vast numbers of people that the OT god ordered murdered,
raped, or put into slavery (only if there were virgins)?
Don't forget this god also told them to pillage and plunder

In terms of Christian logic, you've just proved that God is entirely
made of cheese since there is no way to disprove it. Powerful.

Well, this "faith" thing can't be much good then, since it caused me
to become an atheist, instead of a Christacean.
"Faith" also caused some people to become moslems, too. A lot of
people, actually. And Hindus.
Seems to be a hit and miss affair, this "faith" thing. A tad
unreliable, a tad unpredictable, due to the fact that it can actually
lead some people astray.
Therefore, be careful of this thing called "faith". It can be
dangerous, and I reckon you should be careful not to have too much
faith in it.

It takes as much faith to be an atheist as it does to be a Christian!

Of course not. The reasoning is the following: Until you have reasonable
evidence that something exists, then assume that it probably doesn't.
There are many more things that *might* exist than things that actually
*do* exist. Assuming that everything exists because we can't prove it
doesn't is just madness.
There is no space for faith in the above reasoning.

btw: You still have not proven God not to exist!

Define god first. Then I'll see what I can and can't prove.

furthermore I believe science helps prove God because it shows the skill
and planning that went into the universe that allows us to foemulate such
neat equations to explain everything!

The fact that "the universe has some laws" proves stricly nothing other
than "the universe has some laws". Even pure randomness / chaos has some
rules which we can describe using mathematics.

Lack of evidence is not proof! It just means you need to look harder, go
and look harder!

So, lack of evidence that the lochness monster exists means that we just
need to look harder?
