Object: Evolution explains morality
Before there was a civilization, before religion, whatever life forms
that existed and evolved must have naturally helped each other
survive, and must have banded together against evil.
If not, evil would have won and life would have gone extinct at the
start and we would not be here to wonder about it now.
If your idea of morality is common good, along with a system against
evil, the above must be true.
How life originated is not important: it is here and we are proof. I
wasn't there at the beginning and neither were you. Why care? We, you
or I, cannot change whatever it was. therefore it has no bearing as to
who rules anyone's belief in these modern times.
So, believe what you want, just make sure that freedom of belief is
sustained by preventing any belief from dominating any government.
Because, if it does, we will have failed to help each other survive
and failed to band together against evil.

He's talking about Chtulhu and his ilk. They go back a long way.
