and lots of milk.
That way you might ingest calcium enough to develope a spine, so you
can take the sort of treatment you hand out to others, you hide-bound
bigot.
As for spirituality, the total knowledge embodied on that subject by
Christian doctrine can be written on the back of a postage stamp.

I entirely agree with the response of Mekkala below, but since you are
hard of thinking, here you are:

Well here's a nice example of the lack of symmetry between theists and
atheists: with few exceptions, we are brought up with Christian
doctrine and so we are generally quite conversant with it. So how can
'ignorant and mindless' be justly applied to us? It can't.
Now here's a question for you:
When did you ever make the effort to ask an atheist what s/he thought?
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but my guess is never and if so, who
sounds most 'ignorant and mindless'? If you respect your spirit so
little as not to even find out about another group's beliefs before
passing comment, what is anybody with a brain to make of your claim to
be spiritually minded?
What evidence can you cite to back up any claim that atheists aren't
spiritual?

While I agree with the reply given to mr Nugent's scree, there's no
doubt that the respondent exceeded his/her authority and should have
been repremanded. However, justice has a keen sense of proportion and
I don't agree that sacking was appropriate. Whatever happened to
protecting the right of free speech?
It's very easy to approve of the principle of free speech when people
aren't saying things you disargee with, but the acid test comes when
someone says something you object to, because if you stifle their
comments you also stifle free speech.
You should have had wit enough to appreciate all this for yourself.

one side said offensive things about gay people, and the other
side said offensive things about the Bible, and condemning the
second person but offering up a big figurative "Good for you!"
for the gay-basher.
Suppose I encounter a Nazi arguing with a more open-minded
person, and I clap the Nazi on the back and say, "Great points
you have there!" while giving the other person a dirty look.
Then you call me a Nazi and I claim that I never proclaimed any
Nazi views. Would you consider that reasonable? Offering praise
to someone for certain views amounts to espousing those views.
You can't weasel out of this one.

Even if this person is an atheist (something you have presented no evidence
for), so what? His reply was neither ignorant nor mindless; it was hostile
and no doubt offensive, but founded on real facts. If anything, it's
usually theists who "ignorantly and mindlessly" bash atheists without even
making an effort to learn anything about us. And even beyond that - again,
so what? He can express his views if he wants. It's called "free speech."
This person obviously finds some forms of religious belief absurd and
false, and he has every right to say so (though he should not have done so
in the professional context which he did).

How about a little maturity? The rest of the human race wasn't put here
to kiss this guy's *****, and if Christians can't handle divergent
viewpoints, then maybe they need to grow the ***** up. Common courtesy
is nice for people who are themselves courteous. I don't see where
courtesy is required when dealing with a disgusting bigot like that. If
the webmaster had responded that atheists deserve to burn in Hell, I
doubt he would have been fired. Someone lost their job--their
livelihood--because some bigot didn't get the answer he felt he was
entitled to. That's very sad.
