TOLEDO - Investigators say stab wounds on the chest of a nun slain in a
hospital chapel in 1980 formed an upside-down cross, a symbol that an
expert on Roman Catholic law and the occult testified yesterday has been
used in satanic worship.

According to tradition, St. Peter asked to be crucified on an inverted
cross because he believed he didn't deserve to die in the same manner as
Jesus, said the Rev. Jeffrey Grob, associate vicar for canonical
services in the Chicago archdiocese. But the same symbol also has been
used to mock the Catholic religion, he said.

"Any way you look at it, it's an affront to God," he said.

The upside down cross or the murder?

The Rev. Gerald Robinson, 68, is accused of killing Sister Margaret Ann
Pahl, 71, in a hospital chapel the day before Easter, Grob said.

Grob said only a priest, nun or seminary student would understand the
significance of the inverted cross and other aspects of the crime scene,

Absolutely. only a priest, nun, seminary student or anyone who's ever
watched one of a very large number of horror films sometime over the
last 40-50 years...

And then of course, it's worth bearing in mind that "Traditional
Satanism" - the Black Mass that's an inversion of the Roman Catholic
Mass is only meaningful to someone who holds that the Roman Mass has
validity, someone like a disaffected priest, perhaps...

Makes me wish again we could just dump all those mad monotheists -
christians, muslims, hindus and jews - and the corresponding satanists in
one place, close and lock the doors, and let them battle it out.
(Note: As I understand it, LaVeyan satanism isn't - necessarily - based on
the abrahamic *****, so one _might_ consider leaving them out of that
plan. But inasmuch as satanists consider themselves to be followers of the
babblical satan, just drop them right in!)
