FAA Rejects Born-Again Christian Pilots |
WASHINGTON DC (EAP) -- Fear of the rapture of Jesus, the Prince of
Peace, coming true any day now during mid-flight, of any and all
aircraft in US airspace, including military aircraft, has caused the
FAA to revoke the licenses of all private and commercial airline
pilots who claim to be born-again Christians. The FAA is also
preventing any future born-again Christians from acquiring pilot
licenses inside US territory.
"We took a good hard look at the `rapture' belief that many Americans
and Christian pilots seem to believe in these days, and decided that
we don't want the type of people who believe such a ridiculous idea
behind the controls of any of our multi-million-dollar aircraft,
especially with the lives of so many hundreds of innocent people at
stake, both on board, and on the ground below."
"They seem to have no problem with the idea of the airplane they're
piloting losing its pilot and crew and the aircraft then plummeting to
earth, killing anyone left on board and possibly killing untold
numbers of innocent people on the ground," said a spokesperson for the
FAA who wishes to remain anonymous until the current case makes it to
court.
"It's been a tough few years for us God-fearing Jesus-praising
Rapture-believing pilots," says one 35-year-old pilot from Nebraska
who decided to go into crop dusting instead of giving up his religious
belief in the rapture story.

A similar scenario is one of the pivotal (if not opening) sequences in
one of the "Left Behind" books. I haven't actually read the garbage or
seen the movies, but I heard this is how one of the stories started.

That's what I was thinking, which is partly why I suggested that everyone on
the plane, other than the pilots and engineer, get raptured during flight.
I think that the landing, and the aftermath, would be an excellent thing to
work on.

Could be, I dunno for sure...

I haven't heard of that take on it before.
The whole rapture idea is a goldmine of sorts when you think about it.
It's made me some money even though I don't even believe in it. I
made some money making fun of it actually... I had another playwright
contact me who wants to use my original "mistaken rapture" story in
some stage play she wants to produce.
I think that the landing, and the aftermath, would be an

Assuming what character traits of the pilot? Atheist, or a true-blue
born-again Christian who wonders why he was left behind?
I've not read any of the "Left Behind" books, only reviews of them,
but it wouldn't surprise me to find out that such ideas have already
been depicted in them in some way.

I suggested it in this thread a couple of days ago.

Congrates, hope you get a nice payoff from it.

True-blue born-again Christians as the pilot, copilot, and
navigator/engineer. The only folks "raptured" are the people on the plane,
other than the above mentioned, who have no clue that it has happened until
they land.
I've not read any of the "Left Behind" books, only reviews of them,
but it wouldn't surprise me to find out that such ideas have already
been depicted in them in some way.
What? Good, God-fearing fundies left behind? Never happen in that series.
But that is why I like this idea, just think of all the questions every
born-again in the world would have when only those on the plane are taken,
other than the piloting crew.

If you weren't raptured along with the crew, you deserve to die. At
