Faith Is Arrogance Under 12 Layers of Bubble Wrap |
Faith is arrogance under 12 layers of bubble wrap. Unfortunately, it's
not air-tight, or theists would do us all a favor and asphyxiate
themselves tout de suite. My point is that "faith" tries to be the more
venerable and less vulnerable cousin of arrogance, but you need only look
at a christian bragging about his humility to see that the packaging
materials do not change the odious underlying contents which religion
represents at its core. George Bush has been a good example of this,
having on several occasions attempted to prounce himself a humble man,
as well as a devout christer. But let's not make this too political,
despite the fact that the termites of christian fundamentalism have eaten
the republic-con party down to wood dust. Religious faith afflicts many
people on the left as well, from Obama and Clinton to Edwards and pretty
much every cowardly candidate who aspires to higher office.
Just remember, that bubble wrap is no match for the porcupine of
skeptical freethought and atheism.
