Police will always lie to protect themselves. Their word is usually believed
in court unless other evidence to the contrary is presented, and sometimes
even then.

As someone on a blog observed, any self-respecting PD (or more
cynically, any self-respecting PD looking to make some decent bucks

heart" that he had used racist terms and denied ever having been a
racist. Fuhrman was uncomfortable with the attention the trial brought

back and I'm never going to have it." Denying having ever planted
evidence, Fuhrman stated, "there was never a shred, never a hint,
never a possibility--not a remote, not a million--, not a
billion-to-one possibility--I could have planted anything. Nor would I
have a reason to."
After the trial, Fuhrman moved to Sandpoint, Idaho and wrote a book
about the O. J. case, called Murder in Brentwood. For his next book,
Murder in Greenwich, he investigated the then-unsolved 1975 murder of
Martha Moxley and uncovered new evidence indicating that the murderer
was Michael Skakel, a relative of the Kennedy family. This eventually
resulted in Skakel's arrest and conviction for the murder. The book
was made into a TV movie in 2002, starring Christopher Meloni (Law &
Order: Special Victims Unit, Oz) as Fuhrman.

Turns out perjury's a bottom grade misdemeanor. I had thought it was
a high grade misdemeanor.
