Fed-up church members stand guard, beat suspect
WEST PALM BEACH - For two months, they spent their nights as volunteer
security guards in their burglary-plagued house of God.
The vigilance paid off early Friday when a suspected burglar broke through a
window and encountered a half-dozen church members wielding baseball bats
and broom handles.
When police arrived, at about 1 a.m., they found the man battered and bound
with rope on the roof outside a second-story window of the Church of the
Nazarene in northern West Palm Beach.
"We think it was the same burglar who broke in two months ago. He used the
same window," said Aristeo Paxtor, 31, who was the first to confront the
suspect.
The action began around 12:50 a.m. when the makeshift guards, waiting in the
dark, heard the pattering of footsteps on the roof. They then heard a window
break, and one dialed 911.
Paxtor was the first to make contact, swinging a bat at the suspect as he
opened a door, striking him across the chest and sending him reeling
backward.
By then, volunteer guard Esteban Mendoza had made his way to the roof and
was waiting for the suspect to scramble out the same window he entered. When
he was halfway out the window, Mendoza hit him in the back with a bat,
according to police reports.
Using rope purchased just for this occasion, the volunteers tied him up and
waited for police to arrive.
"We were simply defending ourselves and our church," said Juan Delfin, 26,
one of the volunteers. "The police can't be everywhere."

O

Ok, bored now.

Figures--way over your head.
Questions:
(1) Want to have a conversation about the history of gay
marriage--excuse me!--"same-sex union" in the Church? You can quote
whatever revisionist historian you want, I will use primary text and
period writers.
(2) Why have you not yet disputed any of the substantive arguments
from Young or Shaw (or Paglia, or...)?
(3) Is this correct?: "If you don't already know why [the RCC is
concerned with all in the world], you will never understand. First,
the
RCC believes itself to have a divine mandate. You can disagree with
that all you want--I don't care, and won't be surprised when you do.
Second, part of this mandate includes certain social codes. Third,
another part of this mandate includes the command to teach all peoples
of this mandate. Which part of this do you have a hard time
understanding?
Now, I suppose you imply that you have a similar situation by your
statement that "When you can answer that honestly (like that'll ever
happen), then you will know why I post where I do." So, I would have
to imagine that you believe you have a divine mandate. (Except that
would be difficult without a belief in God.) Said mandate including
several social codes. (Again, problem with the mandate. But even so,
from whence come your codes?) And further, I imagine that you believe
that part of your mandate tells you to spread this news to other
people. (Again, mandate source problem.) Have I got that right?
Or is your personal code one more of "live and let live?" In which
case, coming in here is pretty danged hypocritical..."

What do you think? He threw the money changers out of his

Yet, he didn't beat them with a baseball bat.

Yeah, you're right. They may have had the wrong man. It was probably
Santa Claus coming to restore all that was taken.

Alberich

Whether it was the wrong man or not, you don't beat people with baseball
bats. Anyone for a silent alarm on the window, or is that too much to ask
from religionists? Of course, they probably enjoyed beating the man. Some
church.

I agree with the basic point. But I think you go about it the wrong
way, making it sound like there was any doubt that the man they beat
after he broke into the Church may not have been the man that broke
into the Church...

Yeah, they should have clubbed him to death. That's what Jesus would
have wanted. <eye roll>
So, how, exactly, is a mob beating the crap out of a robber with a
baseball bat a christian thing to do?
They couldn't have subdued him? Nah, because Jesus would have beaten
the crap out of him. <eye roll>
They couldn't have called the police first and then subdued him? Nah.
<eye roll>
And why did they just assume that he was the same burglar who had
struck before? Did they have fingerprints from the previous robberies?
Did they take this burglar's fingerprints from him after they clubbed
him and compare the two sets?
And no, Al, Andy did not imply or even suggest that there was any
doubt that this man was breaking and entering. That's your strawman
lie, which you are using to defend these people's actions, solely and
simply because they are your co-cultists of yours.
If a group of atheists had behaved so poorly, you would be screaming
for mercy and shouting about arresting the atheists.
But since it was a group of christstains, you simply _must_ make
excuses for them and lie lie lie about any assessment of the situation
which does not exculpate the christstains.
Good show, Mr. "Intellectual Honesty." <eye roll>

sign: Don't read, BB: You may get your pwetty widdle feewings hurt.

- not hidden behind others' words while parroting those words as a
position I take on an issue

Nobody's hidden. Except maybe you, who has yet to show where those
reviewers are wrong. Of course, it's much easier to hide behind the
red herring of "give me page numbers! waaaahhhh!"

- not ignored the fact that those sources you used have lied

As you have yet to substantiate.

- not lied about others' positions (like you do routinely)

Oh? Such as...?

- not refused to examine both sides of an issue (like you do)

Baloney.

I don't directly confront myself for my crap? That makes a lot of
sense...
