LOL! I got yelled at by a Sunday school teacher when I was about 10.
We were supposed to read the story of Lot and Soddam and Gomorrah
(probably spelled it wrong, but too bad), but only to up to a certain
point in the story. I was bored and read on to the point where Lot's
daughters get him drunk and seduce him.
I couldn't believe what I was reading, and I urged the other kids to
read it.
And then I got bitched out for reading the bible! Priceless.

Most go to church on Sunday to see their friends in suits and ties and talk
about yesterday's ventures on the golf course, or the antique store,
whichever your gender prefers. Some even get interested in the sermon.
Most own a bible, and keep it on the bookshelf at home, and you're right,

I have three bibles that I use to eviscerate fundies
from time to time. The last time one of them said
that something wasn't in the bible, I typed out the
entire section about Moses seeing God's tuchis. The
fundy didn't have the courtesy to write back and
admit that he was wrong. They're like that.

Usually because atheists were Christians who did read the rubbish work.

I'm not sure who said it, but it's so true! Most people who thump the
bible never read it. They get bits and pieces of it fed to them at
church.
I've read the bible completely through at least twice. Some of the

I've read the bible completely through at least twice. Some of the
stories in it are downright immoral.
Umm... no.
Ummm, yes. How about dashing babies' heads on rocks,
slicing open pregnant women, murdering a man and a
woman simply because they belonged to different groups,
having a bear kill a bunch of kids for insulting a bald man,
your god hardening Pharoah's heart deliberately when he
was ready to let the Hebrews go, a father offering his own
daughter to a sex-mad crowd, wiping out the population
of entire towns and cities, except for the virgin girls who
were to be kept as sex slaves. Oh, yeah, and how about
Abraham allowing a Pharaoh and a king to marry his wife
Sarah(probably two versions of the same story) just so
his god would punish them and they'd have to pay off
Abraham to stop the punishment? If you haven't read these
sections of the bible, then you haven't read your own bible.
"Immoral" doesn't even _begin_ to describe the monstrous inhumanity in da
wholly babble. *eg*

My response was to the person who wrote "Umm... no."
It was directly after their comment. The list was for his

It's the same person who wrote the comment after it which you agreed
with. You got a bit confused by reading "Umm... no" out of context.
Everyone who posted to this sub-thread basically agrees with Medusa,

I'm not sure who said it, but it's so true! Most people who thump the
bible never read it. They get bits and pieces of it fed to them at
church.

You ever watch "The Simpsons" episode where Homer goes to hell? They put
him in a chair for the ironic punishment of force feeding im donuts for
eternity. He confounds Satan by being perfectly happy with the
arrangment and demabding as many donuts as can be supplied.
I expect that if America turned around and started force-feeding the
kids an official religion -- assuming it was more or less what they find
at church -- they'd be happy as clams and demand as much religion in
school as they could manage. I know they would, here in NC, at least...

Lets start spoon feeding it two them.
It certainly works here in the UK, where RE is compulsory, as is daily
worship in schools, and "god-botherer" is a common term of endearment.

We live Christianity. We don't verbalize it.
Oh, and btw, Catholics know who is credited with the 4 gospels. The
protest_ants spend all their time in the OT. They for the most part don't even
know the NT exists.
