Filtering certain posters |
Is there a way to filter out a particular poster to usenet who is
posting at a rate of 10 in 2 minutes?
I haven't used it in a long time, but I thought there was at one time
what was called a kill file for example.

If you are using Outlook Express go to Message
and then go to Block Sender. That will get rid
of them until they change their e-mail address.
Then, you just get rid of them again. Some trolls
change their address all the time to try to get
through. Just remember that it takes less time to
block them than it does for them to set up a new
address. To keep your blocked mail from getting
filled up and dumping everyone in it, just clean
out the old unused addresses every couple weeks.
You'd be amazed at how many times some some
of these desperate nitwits change their address to
get through. I don't even read their messages. I
just reblock them. Bob & Carol is a perfect example.

You're obviously referring to Yang. Don't killfile him, he can be an amusing
fellow at times.

Probably not if you're using a web browser connected to Google
Groups to read usenet.
I haven't used it in a long time, but I thought there was at one time

I note that news.comcast.net is an NNTP server. Some web browsers
and email programs can read news from an NNTP server and some
of them provide filtering capabilities. Programs specifically
designed for reading usenet usually do it better. Other people
may be able to recommend some. I can't, because the news reader
I use doesn't run under WINDOWS.
