Remember how AWOL's "stimulus" package was supposed to have led to
massive jobs growth right about... now?
PS: This year the economy is adding about 2 million fewer jobs than
what AWOL claimed his "stimulus policy" would achieve- sounds like a
miserable failure to me.

data available at the beginning of December - predicted job growth of
325,000 a month." - Financial Times, 2/19/2004.

The war in Iraq was important, so important that it was
worth the sacrifice of over 1,000 American lives and
the lives of thousands upon thousands of Iraqi civilians.
Do you know what's more important though?
Tax cuts for the rich!
You see, the income taxe are the only means-based tax in
the world. It's the only tax that looks at your income
before determining how much you have to pay.
That's why it's so unfair.
The thing is, most of the taxes the rich pay is in the form
of the income tax. That's because the other taxes that are
heaped on you -- everything from fuel taxes, to the tax on
your phone or cable bill -- represents a FAR smaller
percentage of income for the rich than the middle class.
And then there's payroll taxes. A middle class person pays
Social Security taxes on every dime that they earn, while
someone who takes home $2 million pays Social Security
taxes on less than the first $100K.
Beautiful, huh? We fund all the tax give-aways for the rich
out of the Social Security "Surplus," and the rich are only
paying a tiny fraction of the Social Security taxes that the
middle class is paying.
Then we say Social Security is bankrupt, and your mother
& grandmother should just go eat dog food to make up the
difference.
That's the way it is now under one-party rule, so you better
get used to it. The Rich come first... and last.
It's the rich first, last & always.
The rest of you just make sure you keep spitting out more
kids for use as cannon fodder in our wars.

Yes, your assessment of the situation at the link is pretty good.
You forgot though, about how the young will be paying for the freebies
for the rich.
First of all, those vaunted Social Security privitization accounts
will only be a rebate of 2% out of the 15% SS taxes you pay! Yes, the
Bushies whine that you make less than 3% on your investment for Social
Security (they must be averaging and actually the rich probably make
less than the poor by current SS standards), but they only plan on
giving you 2% back for you to try to "play" the market.
That is worse than Vegas. At least in Vegas it is hoped that you have
a fair game (though the whole of statistics science shows that luck is
stacked against you). In the Stock market the rich and powerful have
the connections to steal profit and basis out of your retirement
earnings while you get left with next to nothing because there will be
no Social Security to fall back on. (And yet young people will still
be paying 13% of their income for the SS tax. It is the perfect flat
tax because it actually goes down, percentagewise, for those earning
over 90k a year, it has no deductions for children, real estate loans
etc-though lots for businesses.)
As a boomer for which the SS tax was raised from about 3% to 15% for
most of my prime earning years I say to the young "Welcome to the
Monkey House" if you don't vote against Bush in November.
And then there's the universal draft to feed Bush's wars for campaign
contributors.
