Representative Mark Foley of Florida may soon be wishing he wasn't so
aggressive
in passing legislation against sex offenders. :-D
The Republican up for reelection resigned today after various groups
revealed
a number of sexually charged messages allegedly sent by Foley to young boys.
"I am deeply sorry and I apologize for letting down my family and the
people of Florida
I have had the privilege to represent," Foley said in a statement.
The politician did not elaborate on what he was apologizing for... or
had done wrong. :-\

Could be, but I suspect it has to do a lot more with enticement rather

He was not a legal, emancipated adult. He was still a minor until age 18

Not according to the law that Foley sponsored, helped write and stood
behind George W. Bush as it was signed into law. The evidence now shows
that Foley was stalking minors, in violation of that same law, just like

You need to study the law. By not doing so, you simply flaunt your ignorance
for the world to see.
It is illegal to solicit sex on the net from anyone under the age of 18.
This is not

Apparently after and still going...

On Monday, ABC News reported on two new exchanges between Foley and at least
one page, raising the stakes in the investigations because they seem to
indicate Foley sought to meet with the pages. Legal experts say that could
increase his legal jeopardy.
Foley wrote to a page, "I would drive a few miles for a hot stud like you,"
ABC News reported.
One of the exchanges suggested that Foley met with one of the pages. "I miss
you lots since san diego," Foley wrote, and then he asked the page when they
would be having dinner together in Washington, D.C., and what they would do
afterward.

Actually, the key is what the LEGISLATURE in the state says is the
age that they can decide who to go to bed with. In real life, I doubt it
has much to do with adult understanding. Just an age arrived at by
legislative consensus.
But it does have everything do with what is legal and that is all
that really counts.

Will you bother to check out the law? quibbler is 100% accurate.
quib has never been accurate. Does quib even know what they discussed
in
the
emails?
http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/BrianRoss/story?id=2509586&page=1
But did quib know, and when did he know it?
Ask quib. It's not my day to watch him.
I already did. Mommie had his putting out the garbage so he didn't answer.

Legal age for elective engagement in sex in many states.
Which states make it legal for an adult, in this case a 52 year old
man, to have sex with a 16 year old person not married to the adult?
And it is legal to engage in interstate actions to further that sex? I
am guessing that Foley has committed federal offenses and will go to
prison.

I believe that the law against statutory rape stops at age 16 or so in most
states. It might be 15, and it might be 17. That makes illicit sex with the
partner of one's choice legal - not morally right, but legal.

He would have been better off not responding.

Ok duke. Explain this...
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061002/ap_on_go_co/congressman_e_mails_95
ORLANDO, Fla. - Disgraced former Rep. Mark Foley (news, bio, voting record)
sought treatment for alcoholism and "other behavioral problems" as
Republicans on Monday picked a new candidate to salvage the seat that Foley
abandoned after exchanging lurid online messages with teenage boys.
*******
More to the story, I didn't want to paste it all here. You can do SOME
work.
Anyway, explain why
1: He resigned?
2: He is seeking treatment for alcoholism and "other behavioral problems"
Innocent people, especially politicians, don't just resign and run if they
did
nothing wrong.
P.S. How fucking stoopid are these Foley defenders?

No one has said he's guilty. His actions since however speak volumes.

Yes, his actions speak volumes in the court of public opinion. Do you know if
his actions took place before the new law or after. It makes a difference, you
know.
He can't be tried for something that would become a law that he himself

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/local/southflorida/sfl-pfoley03oct03,0,4523490.story?coll=sfla-home-headlines
"I miss
you lots since san diego," Foley wrote, and then he asked the page when they
would be having dinner together in Washington, D.C., and what they would do
afterward.

Mann Act and many that followed. Including some sponsored by Foley

were violated and he ends up in prison.
