Representative Mark Foley of Florida may soon be wishing he wasn't so
aggressive
in passing legislation against sex offenders. :-D
The Republican up for reelection resigned today after various groups
revealed
a number of sexually charged messages allegedly sent by Foley to young boys.
"I am deeply sorry and I apologize for letting down my family and the
people of Florida
I have had the privilege to represent," Foley said in a statement.
The politician did not elaborate on what he was apologizing for... or
had done wrong. :-\

Make up your mind! You bounce back and forth like a pinball in a
pinball machine. First, you keep arguing these pages were old enough
because of age of consent laws, then myself and others point out
regardless of AOC they are still minors under the law, you want proof
of that, it's provided, and now you go back to age of consent, and
add statutory rape and quitting school!
Nope, I never mentioned age of majority, whatever that is, YOU did. What
we're
dealing with here is the age of consent, an age where the act goes from
statutory rape to consent by the younger, and that's 15-16.
Ummmm, age of majority is the age when one is considered to move from
minor to adult. In the US, the lowest age for that is 18, with some being
19 and 1 or 2 being 21. So, you are not considered an adult in any state
in the USA unless you are at least 18. THIS is what applies in the Foley
case.
What would apply in the Foley case is yet another law about soliciting
sex with people over the Internet. That FEDERAL laws says the receiver
has to be 18.
Which is a law that Foley either wrote, sponsored or, in his capacity
as Chair of a sub-committee, was instrumental in getting passed.
Oh, the irony...
To muddle things up even more. Absent that law, the age
of consent laws would kick in again.

A minor is a person under the age of majority. The age of majority is
the age at which a minor, in the eyes of the law, becomes an adult. This
age is 18 in most states. In a few other states, the age of majority is
19 or 21. A minor is considered to be a resident of the same state as

I'm satisfied in belief that the age for statutory rape is 15-16. After that,
consent is considered, be it male/male or male/female, or female/female.
Nancy Polosi, dumbass from Calee-fornia, calls them "children". The law says
young adult.

What is happening is that two different concepts are being
confused or at least intermingled. One is the age of majority where one
can enter into contracts, vote, marry w/o consent of parents, get a job
with no restrictions on how long, when and what you can do, and a whole
bunch of other things.
This is in all states that I am aware of, 18 without some very special
circumstances.
The second concept is age of consent for sex. This means that you
can have sex with anyone you want, but not the rest of the above. Now
why the two aren't the same is something to ask your Legislator. In a
few states it is.

As far as I know, the age for statutory rape is nominally 15-16. After that,
consent is considered valid, be it hereto or homo sexual contact.

This has been shown to you duke over and over again, but you wish to

Depends on the state. It is ALL over the place. Some (CA and Fl
among others) have it at 18. Some (a rather odd couple of IA and SC)
have it at 15 for females and 16 for males) . I counted about 28 states
at 16 for both. A couple have higher ages for homosexual sex (although I
think that is more because they aren't enforced and no one has gotten
around to suing or changing the law) and at least one (NM) actually has
a lower age of consent for homosexual relations. Go figger.

According to the list at http://www.coolnurse.com/consent.htm, over
half. The age of consent to have sex in 28 states is 16. The age of
consent to have sex means that people of that age can have consensual
sex with whoever they wish, so yeah, most states allow 50 year old
adults to have sex with 15 year old. Two (SC and Iowa-- a rather strange
combination) say the age of consent for females is 14.

Which ones? There is not a state that one can make a contract
(excepting marriage) at 16. So, again, which states allow 50 year old
adults to have sex with 16 year olds?
Marriage is a contract.
Hence my comment. So, again, which states allow 50 year old
adults to have sex with 16 year olds?
According to the list at http://www.coolnurse.com/consent.htm, over
half. The age of consent to have sex in 28 states is 16. The age of
consent to have sex means that people of that age can have consensual
sex with whoever they wish, so yeah, most states allow 50 year old
adults to have sex with 15 year old. Two (SC and Iowa-- a rather strange
combination) say the age of consent for females is 14.
Get up to speed. This Foley creep is the author of a new Internet sex
crime bill that sets the age of "children" at 18 regardless of age of
concent laws any indvidual state may have. The irony... this creep
could be and should be charged under the law he helped to author.
ROTFLMAO!

I agree it's hilarious.
What's stupid is the republican defenders in here who come up with all
sorts of ways to excuse him. (Age of consent being one of them)
"oh oh! the page is 16 and the age of consent is 16 so it's ok"
These people are too lazy to actually look it up or have looked it up
and are simply dishonest.
The age of consent laws do not apply to communication over the internet.
Say for example Foley was Instant Messaging a male page who was on
vacation in Iowa where the age of consent is 14/16. It still wouldn't excuse
him. And even if you tried to argue that the AOC law applies, all the
states AOC ages are about male/female relationships, not male/male.

Do try to pay attention and keep up with the changes. The thread
had wandered off the initial focus (like that hardly ever happens on
USENET), and the response was ONLY to the statement where it was asked
which states allow 16 y/o to have sex with 50 y/o.
Your statement is true, up to an including the irony, but not
remotely what the conversation was currently about.

It it's not statutory rape with a female, I doubt it's illegal with a male.
Now it might be 15 or 17, but the age of the pages is right around that point of
adulthood.
Which is 18.
I don't think so.
Well, again, your thoughts are not facts.

The Republican up for reelection resigned today after various groups
revealed a number of sexually charged messages allegedly sent by Foley to young boys.
Yes, well Foley has apparently decided that by quitting his job he should
be able to focus all his attention on trying to get into the pants of
young boys.
He'll have to fight off bernie from Mass. and the former gov of NJ.
More importantly, he'll have to fight off self-hating fagboy Karl Rove,
Jeff Gannon and former CIA director Porter Goss.

You're the idiot again, as usual. Goss was forced to resign abruptly,
just as Mark Foley was. Gannon also became a major embarrassment because
of his gay hooker services on the side. Many people have attested to
Karl Rove's homosexuality. The fact that you don't want to accept the
truth about the abberant sexuality of these repugs just shows that you're
delusional and a fucking, cathaholic, pope-sucking moron.
