The original poster posted to you groups, and therefore I leave them
in.
I am a Dutchman, reading this post in alt.atheism, and I am commenting
after having watched the video that Muvy.org linked to regarding Ayaan
Hirshi Ali.
Here praise of the USA as a country is a little overdone,
I have a hunch it is because of the nature of American people.
Of all the people from different countries I have met in person thus
far,
the Americans stand out as the friendliest.
If we in the Netherlands had treated her a bit more dignified
it might have been different, but her own party-member attacked her
because her grand-father received an honorary name.
She wasn't lying she just wrote down his old name (Ali) in her
applications
and his new - honorary - name in her book
It's like a roman emperor saying he was the heir to Octavian
and being accused of lying because he really was the heir of Augustus!
I thinks she makes a mistake in the beginning of the intrview saying
"it is all in the Quran" she immediatly corrects herself by saying
"all this in the Haddish" apparently another important islamic book.
I read the Quran and some of the objections to Islam she mentions I
just do not remember reading there. But I do not think her objections
are beside the point.
It is true the bible in some places is more immoral than the Quran,
but it is also true, that the average Christian following the Gospel
rather than the Old Testament, has clearly better moral guidelines
than the average Muslim.
