Fred Stone: Increasingly Divorced From Reality |
Fred Stone measures "overwhelming success" by the amount of
recruiting shortfall in the Armed Forces, and the number of Americans
killed by his NeoCon fantasies.
I predict next month Fred Stone will once again proclaim how his
NeoCon master plan is "overwhelmingly" successful, and the month after
that, and the one after....
====================
"We are engaged in the endgame of a war, the dirty days of snuffing
out the last of the opposition. "
-Fred Stone 8/28/2003, on Iraq,
When US/Allies deaths were at 324 in Iraq
$80 billion spent on Iraq
US wounded at 1,150
"... the insurgents in Iraq are losing, where Iraq is not a quagmire,
because the vast majority of the people there are on the side of their
own free, democratic government."
-Fred Stone 4/24/2005, on Iraq
When US/Allies deaths were at 1,764 in Iraq
$220 billion spent on Iraq
US wounded at 12,253 in Iraq
"The only evidence in those sites is of the increasing desperation of
the loonie left in the face of Bush and Blair's overwhelming success
in Afghanistan and Iraq."
-Fred Stone, 5/24/2005
When US/Allies deaths were at 1,827 in Iraq
$300 billion spent on Iraq
US wounded at 12,348 in Iraq

Yeah.
A few years ago when I started to debate him, I kind of had respect
for him: for making an honest effort in Machiavellian reasoning, even
if wrong. But even before I strayed away from aa two years ago,
his persistent neocon apologia showed the zeal of a believer, not the
cynism of someone knowledgeable about power. When I looked at
aa last week, and saw f.e. the Galloway thread, I could predict with
100% accuracy that he'll participate and what his position will be.

1) I suggest you change "spent" to "budgeted".
2) You'd better list Iraqi deaths somehow, and *before* US deaths for
measure. Let's not forget that the US occupation kills Iraqis at a rate
comparable to Saddam's when he could commit genocides with US
cover, even without the terrorists whom it would be the occupier's duty
to catch (I mean, the neocons try to create a casus belli against Syria
with fluke demands to stop terrorists at the border, but how should it if
the US can't?...), and even without the common criminals and blood
feud-ers about whose carnage the warbots nicely forget.

That number would be harder to come by since month-by-month estimate
is not AFAIK not available. Besides, to the NeoCons, these Iraqis are
"terra-ists" by the vitue of being dead, even the 3-month old babies.

When you *are* a stupid, gullible theo-con. You allow your heroes to
blatantly lie to your face and you eat it up. Stay away from churches,
because you'd probably start eating up their lies. If you're even a real
atheist, which I doubt.

There's no atrocity that Bush could commit that would cause you to speak out

You would support NAFTA. Because of NAFTA, the main employer in my small

Here's part of the article notre that the second paragraph does not comment
on the first.
"An inmate at the Guantanamo Bay prison camp accused US guards of flushing a
Koran down the toilet in 2002, newly declassified FBI documents reveal.
The disclosure follows a row over a similar claim made in Newsweek, which
the magazine was forced to retract. "
Fred may have trouble with the words "similar claim".
<snip>
But the FBI documents made public on Wednesday, after a request from the
human rights group American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), show that such
allegations had been made at Guantanamo Bay.
After interviewing a detainee, an unnamed FBI agent wrote on 1 August 2002:
"Personally, he has nothing against the United States. The guards in the
detention facility do not treat him well. Their behaviour is bad.
"About five months ago, the guards beat the detainees. They flushed a Koran
in the toilet.
"The guards dance around when the detainees are trying to pray. The guards
still do these things."
Unless another source can be shown, the FBI agent is speaking of what
happened, not what somebody said happened.

That's not from the FBI report. That's from that slanted article in the

Uhh, Mike, didn't you notice that the agent is telling what the detainee
said to him in the interview?
And I will repeat: the detainees have been indoctrinated to make such
allegations about their captors.

I predict next month Fred Stone will once again proclaim how his

Now the FBI will have to be on his list of unreliable sources.

An inmate at the Guantanamo Bay prison camp accused US guards of
flushing a Koran down the toilet back in 2002, declassified FBI
documents reveal.
Yawn. An inmate made that accusation. So no, it's not the FBI that is
unreliable.
Yawn, Fred doesn't like what the FBI says (and probably didn't read the
link.)
I liked this bit.
"The Pentagon did not immediately comment on the documents, but officials have
said recently that various claims made by former detainees have been proved
false. "
I wonder how they proved them to be false.
Probably asked the guards, it is unlikely that they asked the prisoners.
