Incestuous German pair fight case
BBC News ^ | February 20 2007
Posted on 02/20/2007 7:57:39 PM PST by jmc1969
A German brother and sister who live as a couple and have four
children are going to Germany's highest court to try to legalise their
relationship.
The 29-year-old brother has already spent more than two years in
prison for sleeping with his sister, and could be incarcerated again,
his lawyer said.
The pair are currently drawing up an appeal to take before Germany's
constitutional court.
They argue they are being denied the right to sexual freedom.
The pair did not grow up together. Patrick, the brother, had been
adopted by a couple from Potsdam while his sister, Susan, grew up with
their mother.
But when he reached adulthood he wanted to track down his biological
parents. He found his mother, and he met Susan.
About six months later, the mother died, and Patrick moved in with
Susan. In 2001, their son, Erik, was born. He was subsequently taken
into foster care.
Three more children were born between 2003 and 2005. In November of
that year, the pair were tried for incest.
Patrick was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison. His sister,
then 21, was put into the care of youth services.
According to Spiegel online, while Patrick was in prison Susan had a
fifth child with another man.
Their lawyer, Endrik Wilhelm, told the BBC News website that the pair
are now living together again and plan to lodge their case within six
weeks.

Let's bring back some *respectable* culture, shall we?
A German brother and sister who lived as a couple and had one son were
going to Germany's highest court to try to legalise their relationship
before their untimely demise.
The 29-year-old brother had already spent more than two years in
prison for sleeping with his sister, and except for his demise, would
be incarcerated again, his lawyer said.
The pair were drawing up an appeal to take before Germany's
constitutional court.
They argued they were being denied the right to sexual freedom.
The pair did not grow up together. Siegmund, the brother, had been
raised by his father, a somewhat morose individual with an eye patch,
while his sister, Sieglinde, grew up with their mother.
But when he reached adulthood he became a fugitive from some
disgruntled tribespeople. He took refuge in a house that had an
enormous tree with a sword stuck it, and there he met Sieglinde.
Siegmund and Sieglinde ran off together and several months later their
son, Siegfried, was born. He was subsequently taken into foster care
by a whiny, suffering-from-low-esteem individual named "Mime".
The whole affair came to a bad end. Siegmund was killed in battle,
Sieglinde died in childbirth, Mime was throttled for serving up some
very bad soup, Siegfried killed the last surviving member of an
endangered species and went on to shack up with his aunt.

Perhaps you were thinking of George Gershwin?

And Brunnhilde, aided by a chorus of Norns, tells us that she has
always depended on the kindness of strangers. Another triumph from

OK, where's the problem? They are taking their case through the court
system, and from what has gone before it seems a fairly hopeless case
since every court so far has ruled against them.
Do you object to people being able to challenge laws they feel are
wrong? Do you hate independant judges ruling on matters of law?
Seriously, why did this case catch your eye?

When I was stationed in Aschaffenburg I looked everywhere for European
decadence. Then I realized I was in Germany, and the best I could hope
for was really great beer, fried foods, and spending two month's pay
going to the Bayreuth Festival and seeing the entire Der Ring des

But eventually I made it Greece, and found decadence to suit my

How did you manage to get tickets to the festival (and for a complete
Ring)? I've heard that the waiting list is quite long... Connections? $
$$?
As a Wagner freak -hence my alias- I'd love to go there at least
once... but if possible once this jerk, Wolfgang Wagner, is gone...
Although I'm quite lucky: where I live (Vienna, Austria), I can get
every year one or two complete Ring cycles, and my yearly doses of
Parsifal, Meistersinger and Tristan... and with the best singers and
the best "pit"-orchestra...
But, Bayreuth would still be cool...

The military had a ticket office for cultural events all over West
Germany. As you could probably guess, most of the staff had cobwebs
until Oktoberfest events came up. I went in out of curiosity after a
dental appointment, saw that I could buy a complete Festival package
at a discount and wrote the check on the spot. Destroyed my bank
balance, but with shared housing (ended up with a couple of
interesting roommates) eating from food stalls I managed to experience
the entire thing.

Bayreuth is a stunning theatre, actually managed to get on stage there once.
No audience but you got the sense of a building soaked in sound and emotion.
Never managed to get tickets to see a production though. I caught the ROH
Ring in London about twenty years or so ago (swapped comps with a techie
there, helped being in the business at the time). Fan-bloody-tastic.

Their lawyer, Endrik Wilhelm, told the BBC News website that the pair
are now living together again and plan to lodge their case within six
weeks.
Meanwhile, in the United States, the race for the nomination of the
"conservative" party candidate for President is currently being led by
a man who was once married to his cousin.
Adult siblings fucking each other - this is the sort of pressing issue
that concerns you?

Actually, an intense sexual interest between both siblings and parent/child
who have been re-united after a long parting, such as seperation via
adoption at birth, is a well-known phenomenom. Of course, incest is
un-natural!, we hear. But it does keep on happening all over the globe in
many different societies, with differing religious and moral rules. Some-one
should tell god he fucked up on the intelligent design.....

Regardless, if they want to do it, what motivation is there to stop them
other than the objections of 3000 year old mythologies? I understand that
there is an increased risk of inbred defects (if, in fact, they choose to
have children), but let's be frank: the objections are purely on "moral"
grounds.
Similarly, if Mormons want to be polygamists, so be it. So long as they're

Well, she was 17 years old when the first child was born. The article
does not say how old she was when they started having sex, but the
"consenting adult" part might have been a problem. And with four
children at age 21, somebody should have a talk with her about where
children come from. :-(

It's much more common in the Christian Bible Belt in the US than it is
in Europe. Evidently they'd rather see incest than gay marriage,
since the Bible condones incest.

Incestuous German pair fight case

Their lawyer, Endrik Wilhelm, told the BBC News website that the pair
are now living together again and plan to lodge their case within six
weeks.
