Ga. Mother Seeks Harry Potter Ban |
Of course, this good and decent woman will become the object of ridicule
because of the love and concern she shows for the children in her locale.
Personally, I feel if the people don't want this trash, they shouldn't be
subjected to it.

A suburban county that sparked a public outcry when its libraries
temporarily eliminated funding for Spanish-language fiction is now being
asked to ban Harry Potter books from its schools.
Laura Mallory, a mother of four, told a hearing officer for the Gwinnett
County Board of Education on Tuesday that the popular fiction series are an
"evil" attempt to indoctrinate children in the Wicca religion.
Board of Education attorney Victoria Sweeny said that if schools were to
remove all books containing reference to witches, they would have to ban
"Macbeth" and "Cinderella."
"There's a mountain of evidence for keeping Harry Potter," she said, adding
that the books don't support any particular religion but present instead
universal themes of friendship and overcoming adversity.
In June, the county's library board eliminated the $3,000 that had been set
aside to buy Spanish-language fiction in the coming fiscal year. One board
member said the move came after some residents objected to using taxpayer
dollars to entertain readers who might be illegal immigrants.
Days later, the board reversed its decision amid accusations that the move
was anti-Hispanic.

No, she'll be ridiculed because she's being an asshat. She's being a
whiny little prat.
Personally, I feel if the people don't want this trash, they shouldn't be

NOBODY IS SUBJECTED TO IT, YOU MORON. If she doesn't like it, SHE
DOESN'T HAVE TO READ IT, and neither do troglodytes like you.
If you don't want to be ridiculed, then cease your ridiculous whining
and for Christ's sake grow a pair. Stop your whinging!
For this you get a medal:

Who is forcing any kid to read these books?! My kids are grown, but I
sure wouldn't have wanted this woman to dictate to my children what
they could or couldn't read! Might as well have a national
book-burning! What is she............a Hitlerite? The stories are
fantasies......fairytales........just plain fun!
I once had an acquaintance who wanted to watch the Disney cartoon
"Beauty and the Beast", but she said her husband forbade her to rent
the movie because it depicted "bestiality". At first I laughed my head
off (also at a woman being made to obey her husband) and........I
thought she was kidding..........but she wasn't. Several of us tried
to explain why the movie had nothing whatsoever to do with bestiality,
that it was actually a moral lesson in tolerance and acceptance.
Finally, she waited until her husband was out of town on a business
trip. She rented the DVD and loved it. Whew!
I guess you already know what she was? Right........an evangelical
fundamentalist "Christian". E-w-w-w-!
