A leading consortium bidding to operate Galileo, the controversial
European global satellite navigation system, risks fierce opposition
from the US by including a Chinese company in its team.
iNavSat - the consortium founded by satellite operator Inmarsat,
Franco-British defence electronics group Thales, and Eads - yesterday
launched a bid of almost =803bn (=A32.1bn) against a rival offer from
Eurely, a team grouped around Alcatel and Finmeccanica.
