Student Dies After South LA School Shooting
TORRANCE — A 15-year-old girl died today at a local hospital, eight days
after being shot in the head outside her South Los Angeles high school
while waiting for a ride home.
Deliesh Allen had been in critical condition at Harbor-UCLA Medical
Center since the March 17 shooting.
"Our prayers didn't fail. This is God's will," said the girl's aunt,
Candacy Roberts, outside the hospital. "Out of this tragedy, maybe
there's hope for this city yet."

So it was God's Will that Deliesh take a gang member's stray bullet in
the head, eh? It was God's Will that her parents suffer the
unmentionable anguish of outliving a child. Who was this bullet meant
for, another gang member standing nearby? Let me guess. It was God's
Will that the bullet was deflected from this gang member because twenty
years from now he will convert to Christianity, and embark on a mission
to convert a large population of Los Angeles gang members, convincing
them that as long as they accept Jayzuz into their lives it don't matter
how many people they have killed, or will kill in the future, they are
SAVED, praise JAYZUZ! Gawwwd's will be done!

On a related note, there was a massive explosion at a Texas City oil
refinery, and two of the 15 dead were a woman and her husband. Their 20
year old daughter said god arranged it that way so they would die
together, but then she went on to say she thought her mother was very
brave for having been in the clear but going back in for her husband.
Of course, this makes one wonder if god's will made the woman go back to
die, or if she exercised free will to do so, in which case god had
nothing to do with it.
Yeah, I know she was just mouthing a conventional platitude about "god's
will", followed by what she really thought, but it still bothers me that
such vapid, worthless tripe is considered a proper response to tragedy
by so many people.
