Gays 'Threaten Society' Islamic Leader Says

One of the world's leading Islamic scholars has angered gay rights
advocates in Asia and Europe after declaring that granting gay rights
is a threat to society and should not be tolerated.
Anis Ahmad, vice-chancellor of Pakistan's Riphah International
University calls homosexuality an aberration, the English language
Chinese newspaper The Standard reports.
Ahmad was in Hong Kong as a guest of the Islamic Union.
The Islamic leader said that there is a global responsibility to ensure
that ethical values are upheld..
His remarks came as the Hong Kong government is considering legislation
to grant greater rights to gays and lesbians.
