Ga. School Chief Drops 'Evolution' Plan
By DOUG GROSS

ATLANTA --
Georgia's school superintendent Thursday dropped plans to remove the
word "evolution" from the state's high school science curriculum.
"I will recommend to the teacher teams that the word `evolution' be
put back in the curriculum," Kathy Cox said in a statement.
Cox said she originally wanted to replace "evolution" with the phrase
"biological changes over time" to avoid controversy.
"Instead, a greater controversy ensued," she said.
The proposal drew widespread criticism.
Former President Carter said it exposed the state to nationwide
ridicule.

Carter's right but in the wrong way. : How ridiculously overpedantic can you
get?! : Just because it's a Bible-bashing state means that kids don't get
the choice whether to believe in evolution or creationism; rather the
idiosynchratic myth of creationism is shoved down their throat from birth
and evolution is not even mentioned. : Typical Fundy values = Ignorance is
bliss. : Is that the idea? 'Facist dictatorship with religious
thought-police if you ask me. It can only be AmeriKKKa. : Thank god I'm a
Brit! : At least over here you still get choice to some extent. .....And see
how religion is making fools out of the Yanks lately. : Keep watching; if
Bush gets his way he'll be invading the Vatican and installing himself as
Pope next. :)

After first removing the rest of the US civil liberties:-

One good thing about the French, since Napoleon, they've separated Church
from State, and relegated it to where it should be. And in France there
wouldn't have been an eyelid batted about Carter's little peccadilloes.
PS.
I'd couldn't resist the last comment, as I know it will infuriate Dave. LOL!

Keep smiling...the forces of ignorance are moving in England as well...and
with some support by the government...get Blair out as soon as possible and
ride him out on the fucking rail he deserves.
