The idea of "god" is a product of pristine ignorance. When man was
so ignorant that he knew nothing about anything, he explained
everything with "gods". Gods caused illness and natural disasters so
people prayed to their gods for relief, but it NEVER came. If God is
all powerful, why not pray to your God instead of seeking help from
other human beings (doctors)? If God is Almighty and created the
universe, why can't He perform a very minor miracle to prove to us He
really is God? That minor miracle would be to bestow long life on at
least ONE of the faithful who prays to Him. If I knew of one single
person who lived to the age of 200 because of prayer, I would become an
instant theist.
But, of course, gods are ridiculous. I can hear someone scream
that Methuselah lived 969 years. That'a a fable same as the
Resurrection of Christ. If Christ really resurrected and simply
presented Himself to Pontius Pilate and Herod, all Jews and all Romans
would have become instant Christians. So let's get real. Religion is
incipient mythology and gods are figments of human imagination at the
level of extreme ignorance. If you believe in God, you might as well
believe in Geocentrism because THAT was the wisdom of the ages in the
Age of Ignorance. If you really believe in God, have FAITH in Him. If
you are sick and dying, pray to Him instead of going to another human
being (doctor) for help. If you insist on going to a doctor, your
faith is in your doctor (man) and NOT in your God. For more
