Godless Dawkins |
Keep this in mind for future reference and other
authors....
I've suggested this before, but when you want an
autographed copy of someone's latest book, and
can't make it to the signing in person, contact
whatever bookstore was sponsoring the event. They
almost always get as many extra signed copies
as the big-named authors will give them.
What put this in mind was the fact that a friend of
mine picked up Dawkin's new book today. Yes, he
grabbed an autographed copy.
Trust me on this, I am in NO WAY affiliated with this
business, but as of some hours ago they still had
autographed copies of Dawkin's book available:
http://www.harvard.com/
If you're going to give anyone the business, might as
well be an independent book store...

Well I see that they have his books, but no mention about any that are
autographed. Is this something we have to call them and ask about?

As far as I know, yes. I never made it into the store
myself (I was figthing for a parking space, and he
was already done my the time victory was achieved),
but my friend said they had a bunch of them.
And it isn't just this store. I didn't check, but the last
time Dawkins was on a book tour they had his
schedule online. You could try any location where he's
made a recent stop. And if you're really itching, you
can even call ahead and ask them to reserve a copy
for you.
TIP: Autographed books are more valuable if they are
NOT personalized! Autographs made out to "Bill"
or "Sue" are worth less to collectors than autographs
by themselves. Unless, of course, it's made out to
someone famous.
