God's "Justice and Love" - A parable
There was a king, good and just, who claimed dominion over a vast realm
of splendour and prosperity. This king had two youths in his keeping:
the young prince, and a foster son who was almost treated as the
prince's equal.
One day, the king overheard a conversation between the foster son and
the prince. They were arguing about the king's concept of justice, and
it became clear pretty quickly that the foster son didn't agree with it
at all. At one point, he even called his foster father a malicious and
cruel tyrant, pointing out that even petty crimes were punished most
cruelly, with no measure of the exact magnitude of the misdeed. For
there was but one punishment available in the kingdom: death.
When the king had heard this, he instantly summoned his guards to seize
the foster son, and ordered them to chop his head off immediately. For
that's justice.
But before the guards could execute the foster son, the prince stepped
up to his father and said: "Spare him, for he didn't know what he was
doing."
The king frowned and replied: "He transgressed the law, and therefore
he must die. I am a just king, and I cannot allow a criminal to go
free."
The prince went to his knees. "I beg you, don't do it. Or else take me
instead."
The king shrugged his shoulders and nodded to his guards. So they
seized the prince and chopped his head off in front of the king,
spilling his lifeblood. And the king smiled, for that's justice.
Then he told his foster son that the price of his crime had been paid,
and that he could return to his business as usual if only he accepted
it. But the foster son stared at the decapitated body on the floor,
horrified and shocked, and shook his head. So the king shrugged again,
nodded to his guards, and another head rolled across the rough stones
of the yard.
Don't call it "murder". It God's JUSTICE and LOVE. As long as some
blood is spilled, the king is pleased.
Epilogue: The prince's body was brought to the Royal Physician, who
sewed the head back onto the shoulders and sprinkled a magic powder
over the wounds, and after three days, the prince opened his eyes and
found that he was restored to life.
He went to his father and thanked him, asking to know what had happened
to his foster brother.
The king shrugged and told him that his remains had been burned, rather
than receiving the same treatment as the prince. He was only a foster
son, after all.
Indeed. The king will murder you, too,...if you dont believe his son
returned to life.
