GOERINGER TO SPEAK AT FREE INQUIRY GROUP MEETING TUESDAY, 3/28
"Expanding and Defending the Secular Universe"
Terrorists, head scarves, Futurama, tolerance, Starbucks and MTV,
Pentagon Maps, Clashing Civilizations, Creative Classes Rising and, oh
my! How does this all fit together?
Conrad Goeringer, staff correspondent for American Atheists will be
the guest speaker at the March 28, 2006 meeting of the Free Inquiry
Group (FIG) of Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
His talk, "Expanding and Defending the Secular Universe" examines
current political theories including the "Clash of Civilizations"
hypothesis of Samuel Huntington, Thomas Barnett's core-gap account in
"The Pentagon's New Map," and Richard Florida's "The Rise of the
Creative Class," then mixes all of this with some thoughts about MTV,
Starbucks and why Carmen bin Laden may be a greater force on behalf of
secularism and modernity than George W. Bush!
The monthly meeting is open to the public, and takes place at the
historic Vernon Manor Hotel, 400 Oak Street in Cincinnati, OH.
beginning at 7:00 PM. For more information, visit the FIG web site at
