Religious Rightwinger Pleads Guilty to Bombing Plot
"A former Army Ranger inspired by anti-abortion activists pleaded guilty
Friday to devising a plot to blow up abortion clinics and gay bars
nationwide. Stephen John Jordi, an evangelical Christian from Coconut
Creek with a flaming cross tattooed to his right forearm, pleaded guilty
to one count of attempted firebombing. In stark contrast to his
agitated, grizzled appearance after his Nov. 11 arrest, Jordi was calm
and clean shaven during the brief hearing at U.S. District Court in Fort
Lauderdale. In return for the guilty plea, prosecutors John Schlesinger
and Gerald Greenberg agreed to drop two other counts: spreading
explosive information and possession of an unregistered firearm. Public
defenders Anne Lyons and Michael Spivack said prosecutors also agreed
not to press charges against Jordi's wife, Charlotte, who has relocated
with their four children, to Pensacola."

Few Americans ever learn anything of any serious content about the rise
of Nazi Germany, nor the war crime trials which took place after Nazi
Germany was defeated. And of the few percent that _do_ bother to learn
what history teaches, even fewer care. And of that vanishing small
minority, few are capable of recognizing that in George Bush fascism
is once again lose.

Once again, so much for Christian love...

That *is* christian love-destruction, denigration, descrimination, and
daemonization.

a disgrace to the Batts. He obviously forgot the Creed.
Recognizing that I volunteered as a Ranger, fully knowing the hazards
of my chosen profession, I will always endeavor to uphold the
prestige, honor, and high esprit de corps of my Ranger Regiment.
Acknowledging the fact that a Ranger is a more elite soldier who
arrives at the cutting edge of battle by land, sea, or air, I accept
the fact that as a Ranger my country expects me to move farther,
faster and fight harder than any other soldier.
Never shall I fail my comrades. I will always keep myself mentally
alert, physically strong and morally straight and I will shoulder more
than my share of the task whatever it may be. One-hundred-percent and
then some.
Gallantly will I show the world that I am a specially selected and
well-trained soldier. My courtesy to superior officers, neatness of
dress and care of equipment shall set the example for others to
follow.
Energetically will I meet the enemies of my country. I shall defeat
them on the field of battle for I am better trained and will fight
with all my might. Surrender is not a Ranger word. I will never leave
a fallen comrade to fall into the hands of the enemy and under no
circumstances will I ever embarrass my country.
Readily will I display the intestinal fortitude required to fight on
to the Ranger objective and complete the mission though I be the lone
survivor.
RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!
I still live by that today.

And presumably wasn't entirely professionally accomplished seeing as
he didn't manage to get the job done.

Just as a matter of interest, and you may not be permitted answer, or
may not choose to, but did you ever meet any of our UK equivalents in
a professional sense? If so, what was your take, in a general sense?
How did you think the emphasis differed, if at all?

During Reforger we did some work with the Royal Marine Commandos.
Tough hombres. Very professional.
They spent more time on things like demolitions than we did, but we
were better at Long-Range Recon Patrols (LRRP). I never had the
chance to work with the SAS, so I can't make the comparison.
