Object: Government Funded Religious Chastity Ring
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4553721.stm
reports that "The American Civil Liberties Union has filed a lawsuit
against the US government over its funding of a nationwide sexual
abstinence programme. The ACLU says the Silver Ring Thing programme
violates the principle that the state budget cannot be used to promote
religion."
On the other hand, if 88% of those who make an abstinence pledge break
it, it's really not doing any good, is it? And if 75% of avoided
pregnancies comes from condoms rather than abstinence, it isn;t doing
any good, is it?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4020025.stm
Except, of course, that it gives George Bush a golden opportunity to
channel yet more government dollars into the sticky hands of his
religious cronies.

And win his party some more fundy votes in the next election.

And a golden opportunity to shove his mythology down the throats of the
entire country.
