Thanks to a reader to pointing us to this Daily Kos analysis of The
Huckster's appearance before a Florida group intent on tearing down any
separation between church (their evangelical Christian variety)_and the
state. He tossed them some bloody meat.
The Center's mission is to "To inform, equip, motivate, and support
Christians; enabling them to defend and implement the Biblical principles
on which our country was founded." The five goals Huckabee aligned himself
with are described as the "five key fronts of the modern-day culture war:
(1) Religious Liberties, (2) the Sanctity of Life, (3) the Homosexual
Agenda, (4) Pornography, and (5) Promoting Creationism." Huckabee made it
clear at the group's conference that he shares their goal of dismantling
the constitutional wall between church and state:
...
Does anyone else find it incredibly disturbing that a potential
Presidential nominee so easily embraces a group that states there is no
separation between church and state? And why hasn't the media asked
Huckabee whether he agrees with the Center's mission of dismantling the
Constitutionally prescribed boundary between religion and politics?
Comments and Responses
It always amuses me to hear a liberal talk about "separation of church and
state". As usual, they attempt to promote a bass-ackward view in order to
create an even more immoral society.
The "separation" of church and state is there to keep the state out of the
church's business as evidenced by mountains of writings by our forefathers
who wrote the constitution. But words mean little to slaves of
delusion...and the masters who encourage the delusion.
What amuses me is that the leftist anti-god view is taking away the very
rights that the "separation" was tring to protect--free religious worship.
Anti-Bush, anti-god, anti-truth...you wonder why I think the Democratic
Party is dying?
You notice I didn't write "anti-war". The left is not anti-war--the
three-year anniversary "anti-war" protests over this weekend are not really
as advertised. Liberals have demonstrated, repeatedly, that they will use
anything possible to weaken the Republican leadership in this nation--at
the expense of every American. Against the war? I think NOT! These people
are using the war as a tool.

.. . . You can't understand a phrase such as "Congress shall make no law
respecting an establishment of religion" by syllogistic reasoning. Words
take their meaning from social as well as textual contexts, which is why "a
page of history is worth a volume of logic." New York Trust Co. v. Eisner,

That philosophy 'snipit' helped to get me, and my crew, through a good
many combat missions and far too many scary, inflight, emergencies.
It has also played a significant role in helping me to expose the
plethora of radical Christian propaganda and lies that we find at
almost every media turn.
