Group Wants Christians To Fill S.C., Secede
Organization Hopes To Persuade Christians To Move South
Rick Ellis
June 10, 2004
A newly-formed group of Christian activists has begun plans to
encourage up to 12,000 like-minded individuals to move to South
Carolina.
Their hope is to eventually withdraw that state from the United States
and "reestablish the sovereign Christian nation of South Carolina."
The Tyler, Texas-based Christian Exodus has launched a Web site,
ChristianExodus.com, and has begun encouraging visitors to sign up to
participate in what the Web site says is "an association of Christians
who no longer wish to live under the unjust usurpation of powers by
the federal government."
According to the organization's Web site, "Christians have actively
tried to return the United States to their moral foundations for more
than 20 years. We now have a 'Christian' president, a 'Christian'
attorney general, and a Republican Congress and Supreme Court. Yet
consider this:
Abortion continues against the wishes of many states
Children may not pray in our schools
The Bible is not welcome in schools except under strict federal
guidelines
The 10 Commandments remain banned from public display
Sodomy is now legal and celebrated as 'diversity' rather than
perversion Preaching Christianity will soon be outlawed as 'hate
speech' separated from line above
Gay marriage will be foisted upon us in the very near future"
The group's solution is to convince at least 12,000 people to move to
South Carolina, where it is hoped their numbers will be sufficient to
influence state and local politics with the "express purpose of
reestablishing a Godly, constitutional government."
Ultimately, the group hopes to convince voters to somehow withdraw the
state from the United States and form an independent,
Christian-oriented country.

I think the people who live in S.C should have a say in this matter before
some lunatic volunteers the state for some religious scheme to show how
completely silly men can truly be.
I am against abortion, but it is not my place to judge someone else who
decides to do this. All I can do is try and convince her that if she keeps
the baby and puts it up for adoption, then using my three sons as examples,
show her that they are needed, wanted, and loved by men and women unable to
have children of their own. However, if she still chooses abortion, then
that is her choice, and she will have to deal with the Lord for her choice.
I have fulfilled my duty and kept my faith in the Lord, but nowhere does his
word say that I am to sit in judgement of my fellow human beings. The
choice of abortion is their choice and they have to deal with the
consequences. It is not our place to condemn them, nor to force them into
carrying a child to term. If we were to do that then we are no better than
slavemasters commanding slaves to do our bidding. That is not the Lord's
word or his will.
Children may not pray in our schools
Completely wrong, my sons pray every day at school. They do not need
permission to pray nor is it illegal for students to pray in school. What
is illegal is the school forcing everyone to pray to our Lord even if they
have different religous beliefs. Again it is not our place to cast
judgement, nor is it our place to force a person to pray to our Lord. The
Lord wants us to freely choose the righteousness of his word and to give
ourselves into his trust. My sons are raised in his faith, and they have
been taught the truth of his word. They pray in the mornings to him before
class starts, they pray before eating their lunch, and they pray for others
around them that need the Lord's love and guidance and not once have they
been forbidden to do this. The teachers and school staff as well as the
other students all respect their right to do this, just as they respect
everyone's elses rights to do the same if they choose to.
The Bible is not welcome in schools except under strict federal
guidelines
Wrong again, it is not taught in the school, yet many kids as well as
teachers do have after school bible study groups and clubs which are
allowed. Also my sons are not required to learn, study, or research the
Theory of Evolution in school either because it is against their religious
beliefs. Just as we are not allowed to force everyone to worship in our
belief, neither are my sons required to study something that is against
their beliefs. They also attend a bible study club after school that is
taught by 4 of the staff members including a vice principal. The US Supreme
Court ruled that this does not violate the separation of church and state.
If someone is allowed to start a club afterschool for atheism, then bible
study groups are allowed also. There are currently 4 different faith groups
active after school. RCC, Lutheran, Jewish, and Muslim, and all have
teachers who instruct the group. They are not being paid to do this and it
is completely voluntary on everyones part which is the only guideline they
must follow. I do not know where you send your children to school, but I
live in one of the mostly Democrat controlled state's in this country. So
far Maryland has been the largest contributor to Senator Kerry's campaign
for the Presidency. However, we have many afterschool student bible study
clubs in many of the public schools through out the entire state.
The 10 Commandments remain banned from public display
In Government buildings as described by the US Constitution which endorses
the separation of Church and State. The Commandments are allowed to be
displayed in private parks and private businesses. Here in DC the
Smithonian Institute has them displayed, and they get millions of visitors
each year. But they are a private organization and not part of the
Government so it is perfectly legal.
Sodomy is now legal and celebrated as 'diversity' rather than
perversion
If you are speaking about what a homosexual couple do in the privacy of
their bedroom or motel room, that is none of your concern. I do not know
what state you live in but I do know that sodomy is illegal as well as
sexual intercourse between and man and woman if it is done in public. Also
molestation, sexual assault, and rape of boys as well as girls, and adults
is illegal under sodomy laws that are enforced. Once again, you seek to sit
in judgement of others which is not our place to do so. This is nothing but
pure vanity in one's self which is a sin in the eyes of the Lord.
Preaching Christianity will soon be outlawed as 'hate
speech' separated from line above
Yes, if it is done in the fashion you are preaching it. You are supposed to
spread the Lord's word to others, but it does not say anything about
converting them by force. Again you are demanding that everyone conform to
your ideal of how to worship God which is not of his word, but your own
vanity which you will answer for.
Gay marriage will be foisted upon us in the very near future"
Not if I can help it. Instead of belly aching about it why don't you join
the rest of us logical Christians and support the Ammendment to the US
Constitution Making Marriage between a Man and Woman only. Then if the Gays
want to have Civil unions that is fine by me because that is civil law. We
should not force them to conform to our standards, and the only way we can
show them the truth of the Lord's word is by living the example. This is
only happening in this country is because we have let our own moral values
decay, and marriage is as much a disgrace and joke as Gay Marriage is.
People no longer even care about the sacred vows the Lord has set for
marriage. Nor do they honor those vows when they do say them in front of
the Lord. If they had then this debate would not be present today. I
married my wife when I was 18 and she was 18, and we both lost our virginity
on our wedding night. I lived by my vows I spoke before God who Blessed our
Marriage until my wife's death. Even today, 9 years later I still live by
those vows, and honor my love and commitment to her. Because I vowed to
love and cherish her till I die, and I do even though she is gone. Another
perfect example of a true marriage is Nancy and Ronald Reagan. In the good
times as well as the bad, they remained committed to each other and honored
their vows they uttered before God over 50 years ago. If everyone would
learn to live by those vows then there would be none of these issues today.
I see more "Gay" couples who are more committed to each other than many
heterosexual married couples who marry and divorce like water running
through their fingers. It is now a way to gain financially, and the vows
mean nothing to them. The moment someone better comes along, or problems
arise, or sickness, and even if one just grows tired of the sex, then it is
reason to divorce. However if it was equally financially a burden on both
people then I truly believe that many marriages and almost all of the
divorces will stop. Penalize the parents both forcing them both into debt,
to their children whose lives they are ripping apart. make them work to pay
their debt they owe to their kids, all proceeds of the divorce is split
evenly among the children and it goes into a trust until the child is 21 and
the parents can have no part of it. Guess what, I doubt if any couple with
children would divorce then.
The group's solution is to convince at least 12,000 people to move to
South Carolina, where it is hoped their numbers will be sufficient to
influence state and local politics with the "express purpose of
reestablishing a Godly, constitutional government."
Again, you seek to force everyone to conform to your beliefs, how do we know
that you speak for th Lord? So far you certainly don't show that you even
obey his laws.
Ultimately, the group hopes to convince voters to somehow withdraw the
state from the United States and form an independent,
Christian-oriented country.
We already live in a Christian oriented society, that is what this country
was fouded on almost 250 years ago. There are plently of laws already that
do every single thing you have complained about except 1. That is to force
everyone to conform to your views and beliefs only. As you can see, you
are a fundalmentalist extremist, you believe that your vision you see in
your vanity is what everyone sees. You can not even see the sins you have
been committing in front of the Lord in the name of the Lord. You will be
one of the first to be thrice damned upon his return. Before you can demand
anything you have to set the example first. Clear up the sin in your own
self. Fix the flaws in your life before trying to fix others. And finally,
it is not your place to sit in judgement of anyone nor is it your place to
force a person to conform to your beliefs. You take care of th flaws and
sins within yourself and I will see to mine as will everyone else. That is
why the Lord gave us free will, it is to enable us to learn his word, and to
choose between the light of his truth or the darkness of rejection his word.
Everyone must make that choice themselves. You can not make it for them nor
can you force them to make the choice as you desire it. I will pray for you
that the Lord will make you cast out this vanity that has you so enamoured
that you put your own soul in peril.
God Bless,
Respectfully,
Damion Perez

Someone should tell them that their idea is similar to that of certain folks
on the extreme right who want to carve out a "White homeland" in the Pacific
Northwest, and see what the expressions on their faces are. Betcha they'd
be fun. In any case they probably have as much chance as the "White Power"

Drag it out longer. You can live a month or two without food, but only

Remember some years back the Mormon group that took to the hills
after selling off all their possessions since their Jesus was
scheduled to return in a couple of weeks?
After surviving by drinking their own urine, helicopters had to
airlift the worst starvation cases to hospitals.
It's bizarre how so many people -- some 7 or 8 million -- every
generation are absolutely convinced they're the last generation
before their Jesus mythos "returns." All the previous generations
who were equally sure are ignored.

Where Wiliam Tecumseh Sherman when you need him?
My cousin had a history teacher back in High School, who was pulled
over for speeding in Georgia, in a car with New York license plates.
The trooper said to him, "Son, no one goes this fast through the State
of Georgia". Rather imprudently, his response was "Sherman did!"...
The rest is best left to the imagination.
Then there was a cow-orker of mine, Bruce Sherman, who got a ticket in
Georgia. (Yes, he was related. Yes, the cop asked. No, he didn't lie.)
Did he get a bigger ticket?

Yeah, plus a hard time. Searched the car, the works.

Group Wants Christians To Fill S.C., Secede
Organization Hopes To Persuade Christians To Move South
Rick Ellis
.....
And then they'll start killing each other over which version of the Bible to use.

Nah, most of the seriously hardcore "fundamentalist" kooks (and these people
sound like the real deal) agree that the King James translation is the
infallible Textus Receptus, made under direct divine guidance and therefore
completely error-free.
They'd start killing each other over something, probably, but I doubt it'd be
over which translation to use.

I imagine it will be something like whether to call themselves the

My bet is they would get together and decide on the date of the
Apocalypse and all go hide in the mountains on that day.
Well it's moot, on July 5th they will see the real thing.

It's amazing to me that the 1611 AV fanantics almost never use just about
the only valid weapon they have....that the KJV is perhaps the greatest
masterpiece of English Prose, a opinion held by people regardless of their
individual religous beliefs of lack thereof. But no accused the extreme
